Kilgore and surrounding area is experiencing a power surging issue. The cause is not known at this point. Please do not call into dispatch unless you have an emergency or need some other assistance.

KPD and Kilgore Fire Department units are on scene at a plane crash near the intersection of Airport and Norris Roads. Fortunately only minor injuries reported at this time.

Update at 6:00 pm: The traffic officer is reporting the interstate is now clear, traffic is still moving slowly. (Interstate 20 eastbound 588/589 MM)

Multi-vehicle Crash: KPD and KFD units are responding to a multi-vehicle crash on I-20 eastbound near mile marker 588/589 (just before the US 259 and SH 31 exit). Unk injuries. Units responding reporting a significant traffic back up. Please consider using an alternate route.

State Highway 42, just south of Goforth Road is currently closed for a large tree that has fallen across the roadway.

Oppressive heat will remain in place through Thursday across much of the Four State Region. Look for Heat Index values to range from between 105 to 110 degrees. Remember to take extra precautions if you must be outside in the heat for any length of time.

We’ve received some citizen complaints about traffic driving in the wrong direction down Chandler Street, in the area of Chandler Elementary. There is clear signage and traffic is only open for SOUTHBOUND traffic at this point in the construction. Please be courteous in the area.

KPD and KFD are out with a rollover truck tractor trailer crash on I-20 MM 589 EB exit to Post Oak Road. Watch for exit closure for truck and cargo recovery. Fortunately the driver was uninsured.

Storms will develop as early as this afternoon and bring the threat of damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes, and flash flooding. The threat will continue until the overnight hours for parts of the area.
