The Re-turn scheme is one of the biggest scams ever played on the people of Ireland. We pay extra tax on drinks while the private companies who run the scheme are currently holding almost €100 million of our money. They pay themselves very well too… €1.1 million in salaries and €300,000 in directors’ fees and that’s two years ago! Thanks to Sarah Carey in today’s Irish Independent for this wake up call. As usual, this useless Government is failing us.
Paddy Hayes, CEO of ESB (Ireland’s state-owned electricity company), just got a 29% pay rise to €410,000.
That’s roughly $472,000 — more than the President of the United States earns ($400,000) for running the most powerful country on earth.
This is a civil servant-style semi-state boss on a small island of 5 million people, running an energy company that is tiny by global standards. Yet he now out-earns the leader of the free world.
Irish electricity customers get the bills. Hayes gets the pay packet that makes the US President look underpaid.
Only in Ireland do you get paid more than the US President for delivering some of Europe’s most expensive electricity to households.
A medida que envejeces, te das cuenta cada vez más de que la verdadera felicidad está compuesta por mañanas tranquilas, un entorno limpio, acostarte temprano, un hogar seguro y personas que no te drenan la energía…
I don't understand how we let "buying a house" turn into a 30 year debt sentence that requires two incomes, perfect credit, and a small miracle. Our grandparents did this on a single factory wage with a handshake. We need a PhD and three co-signers.
Maximum in Kilkenny today of 25.2°. That makes it now 14 consecutive day over 25° (since July 6th). Ties with the old heatwave record from August 1976.
