Thank @WexfordEdCentre STEM Initiative a great morning was had in @GoreyCS exploring what powers plants. Brilliant work and thought provoking question from Gorey Central School 6th class. Sharing resources across sectors is a way to grow future problem solvers.
Ready to welcome 6th class from Gorey Central School for morning of science investigating what powers plants to grow. Thanks to Wexford Education Centre for supporting this STEM initiative.
@Eintrachtrob Teachers don’t need time to wrestle with the impact of AI in education and assessment. We need to be included in decisions around education and assessment. @Education_Ire have failed to take the teacher voice seriously. Repeatedly ignoring in class professionals.
Always been fond of St Bridget my mom Bríd was a fan. I used to get her a primrose on the 1st of February. I try now to make a cross or two this time of year to remember mom and the saint. Extraordinary women both.
There she is boys all the way across the ocean from Brazil to Foynes with 40,350 tonnes of wood chip from the Amazon rainforest to be loaded onto trucks and carried up to Offaly to burn in the power station cause that’s the greener option than burning peat from the nearby bog 😡
@rtenews First year “you just put an old phone in the pouch” The real questions are how are students to access canteens at 11 and 1. Schools without devices use Teams and Google Classroom accessible on phones for messages, class activities and resources. I’m sticking with my own solution
@humphreyjones No surprise to the 31% of teachers who in 2019 highlighted concerns around learner experience and outcomes as a result of JC reform Perhaps before the emphasis moves further from the teacher in the classroom to management the @Education_Ire and @NCCAie might engage with teachers
@Gtreacy3G I use it with senior Biology. Students put in phones during class. I surveyed students said they engaged better homework was easier and voted 70/30 to keep it. Phones are used at break and lunch to pay at the canteen. We have 1600 students the logistics of pouches isn’t practica
This high tech solution to phones in the classroom came in at €13. Has been in operation for 3 years and I estimate that next year and additional €0 will be needed to maintain the service. There was no lobbying from Argos as part of this installation.
Minister for Education Norma Foley has strenuously denied a claim that she misled the Dáil over her engagement with a company which sells mobile phone pouches

Honored to chat with this man. We talk about connecting with people and how vital that is. Well this is a 20 year connection. You never know where that first hello will go, so grateful for this one.
Up and At it with Basil today I had a lovely walk and talk with one of the most inspiring women I know. My superstar teacher @Kilkerrin, this woman never stops educating, and today, I learned so much as always. A phenomenal lady, let me know what you think

@mole_street@ncseirl Under €15 keeps phones out of reach, easy to implement, no massive storage required. Perhaps the minister might engage with schools regarding the actual value attached to the constant barrage of new initiatives she is rolling out. Many issues facing learners not being addressed
