Three of the five youths were Travellers.

We can all remember the anger & hatred directed at the two 14-year old boys, from a settled background, who sexually assaulted and murdered Ana Kriegel. And the questions about their upbringing.

Vast majority of Travellers are law-abiding despite the difficulties they face in life, but Traveller women 30x likelier to be in prison than settled, Traveller children 25x likelier to be Oberstown borstal, Traveller men 17x likelier to be in prison.

Not one mainstream media outlet has reported the High Court ruling published yesterday which confirmed a minimum 5-year ban on secondary school teacher Joanne Clarke who was held to have had an inappropriate (not illegal) sexual relationship with a student from her school, as set out in the court ruling available here.

Thought that stuff was like manna to the tabloid press. But in this case, we're still dumbfounded at the similarity with the case in England, the identical name & near identical malfeasance (though the UK case involved a woman who would be 44 today, whereas this Joanne Clarke was reported in May 2026 to be 33 today).

Colourful and unsuccessful election candidate in Kerry, Michelle Keane says the High Court in Dublin has ruled that Michelle was not guilty of contempt in 2024, which led to her being jailed for 4 days in Limerick's womens prison.

She was jailed by controversial no-friend-of-cyclists Judge James O'Donohoe, below, at a circuit court sitting in Listowel. Judge O'Donohoe has now been roundly criticised in Michelle's case by the High Court, according to Gript.

It's an offshoot of a larger defamation claim by a Kerry garda sergeant who successfully claimed before the courts in Kerry she was defamed by comments made by Michelle. This was after the Garda had contacted Michelle about Tweets, seemingly a non-crime hate-related incident. Michelle recorded the phone call, and posted comments on Twitter which the Garda successfully claimed were defamatory.

We haven't see the latest High Court ruling, it's not on the courts website yet, but it appears to be a solid (if novel, see below for a selection from the current list of her High Court cases) victory for Michelle. Nice to see her happy with the courts for once!
