We just lost another legend today 😔

Katsushi Murakami, the legendary mecha and super sentai designer whose work helped define the golden age of anime and tokusatsu, has passed away at 83.

Murakami was especially famous for designing Leopardon, the iconic transforming giant robot featured in Toei’s 1978 live-action Spider-Man series. Leopardon’s success helped inspire giant robots to become a defining part of Super Sentai, the Japanese franchise later adapted into Power Rangers.

Often described as the father of Chogokin, Murakami helped revolutionize robot toys by designing them to transform and combine just like their onscreen counterparts. His work created a stronger connection between television, animation, and toy engineering that continues to influence Japanese entertainment today.

Rest in peace, Katsushi Murakami. Generations may not have known his name, but they grew up with the robots, heroes, and franchises shaped by his imagination 🕊

Some people do treat friendship as just a path to romance. That fear is understandable.

But romantic feelings developing between friends don't mean the friendship was fake. Sometimes they arise naturally because the friendship was real.

My wife and I were friends first. I suspected she liked me more than a friend, so I took time to seriously consider whether our values and futures aligned. Eventually, I asked her directly.

She admitted that she'd made excuses to spend more time with me and went outside her comfort zone to grow closer to me. She was honest about it and terrified that I would reject her because of it.

I didn’t treat her feelings as proof that our friendship was a lie. I simply said, “Okay. I’d like to give us a shot.”

Two years later, I married my best friend.

Someone hoping a friendship could become something more doesn't necessarily mean the friendship was fake. Sure, romantic love is very capable of ruining a friendship and a good friendship is terrifying to lose.

But friendship is not always ruined by romantic love.

Sometimes it becomes the foundation for it.

For those who still don't understand Yachiru's origin: She is actually a piece of Kenpachi's Zanpakuto Nozarashi, a manifestation of his Bankai, who separated from the main body and took the form of a child. When Kenpachi found her, he assumed she was just a lost orphan, took her in, and named her Yachiru after the only person he ever admired (Yachiru Unohana), . It was directly because of this separation and, most importantly, upon receiving a name that she was able to develop her own independent identity and unique Shinigami essence. This is what allowed her to imprint onto an Asauchi and wield her own unique Zanpakuto despite being a Zanpakuto spirit herself.
