@johnforutah @btat First the notion that slaves developed skill disregards that they possessed skills in Africa. Slavers would intentionally target those who possessed important skills.
@DeeBrown1974@sltrib missing the point. This isn't about taking guns. It is about responsible gun ownership. Safe storage laws prevent unauthorized access to firearms for children.
@George_LFC70@SimGillDA First Africans had a fully fledged societies and culture before slavery. Second, the lesser of 2 evils is used to justify evil acts.
@crev99 @debbieksl It asked to attribute the founding principals to ending slavery, but doesn't depict the Constitution as protected the practice of slavery. Instead it says it would allow for action in 1808.
@crev99 @debbieksl First it lists a bunch of times that Americans tried to end the slave trade, including the 1st draft of the declaration. We'll it fails to mention that it was removed to ensure slavery could continue. Point out th a the article of confederacy out the the slave trade,
@crev99 @debbieksl Also why spend the time to compare different slave systems. The purpose is to demonstrate American slavery as not so bad by comparing it to other nations and we weren't the only ones.
The infant death rates stat us designed ti show that American slaves were getting Healthcare
@crev99 @debbieksl I have read it. It is a complete distortion of American slavery.
First, to say slaves learned skills, ignores the fact that these skills were already possessed by Africans before they were captured as slaves.
@JeffersonShupe@nhannahjones However you will notice the use of "British". The only time America is referenced is in regards to attempts to end slavery. They cherry-pick
a bunch of docs but fail to mention that the Constitution protected the slave trade or that states removed language from the Dec of Ind.
So Sen @johnforutah asked if I read the new Florida Social Studies Standards. I did, and I have a lot of questions. I'll only highlight a few that are of interest, either due to current news or my own observations as a History teacher. #uted#utpol 1/many
@SteveAZWildcat That is literally exactly what they said. That slaves could benefit from slavery.
Nice deflection. Notice how even DeSantis isn't taking a victory lap instead in quiet on these. Despite this being part of his war on woke.
