Honored to take on a new role as Finance Chair of the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee and help support Republican legislative candidates across the country.
This election cycle will be one of the most competitive and consequential in recent history. Democrats are preparing to spend heavily in state races nationwide, but Republicans are ready to compete, defend our majorities, and win.
I look forward to working with the RLCC and the @RSLC to help deliver smart, strategic investments and ensure Republican candidates have the resources they need to succeed.
Grateful for the opportunity and eager to get to work helping elect Republican state leaders and securing victories in legislative chambers across America.

The House Agriculture & Livestock Committee met today for another public hearing to examine solutions to combat the New World Screwworm in Texas as part of the state’s coordinated response to the invasive pest.
The magnitude of this challenge demands a comprehensive effort to protect our state’s livestock industry, wildlife populations, rural communities, and broader agricultural economy. The Texas House recognizes the seriousness of this threat and will continue working with our federal, state, local, and private-sector partners to identify every opportunity to contain and ultimately eradicate the New World Screwworm.
Thank you Chairman @RyanGuillen and members of the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee for your ongoing work bringing together stakeholders, gathering expert input, and helping guide Texas’ NWS response.

The House General Investigating Committee on the July 2025 Flooding Events met with our Senate counterparts today to adopt its report on the tragedy at Camp Mystic.
The investigation identified a series of failures that contributed to last summer’s loss of life. These findings cannot change what happened or ease the grief carried by the families who lost loved ones. They can, however, help ensure Texas learns from this tragedy and takes the steps to better protect children and families in future emergencies.
Thank you to the joint committee—Chairs @MorganMeyerTX and @PeteFlores_TX, Vice-Chairs @moodyforelpaso and @electcharles, and House and Senate committee members @DrewDarbyTX, @PaulDysonTX, @RepErinEGamez, @SenBryanHughes, @LoisKolkhorst, and @Menendez4Texas—and investigators Casey Garrett and Justice Michael Massengale for their work.
Also, I want to recognize the strength of the Heaven’s 27 families, who shared their stories in service of a thorough investigation and a safer future for others.

Victories like the ones Texas Republicans have delivered don't happen by accident—they happen because we stand together. The stakes in November have never been higher.
I am asking every Republican across our state to engage in every race, every county, top of the ballot to the bottom. Stand together, fight together, and we will keep Texas red.
One Party. One Mission. #txlege
The time for Republican infighting is over. The only fight that matters is the one ahead.
Today, I addressed the @TexasGOP Convention with delegates, grassroots leaders, party advocates, and conservatives from every corner of our state to deliver a message I believe is critical to the future of our movement.
I knew I might receive a mixed reception, but the stakes are too high to stay silent.
A bruising primary season is behind us. Now, our focus must be on November. Republicans have delivered historic victories for Texas, but our job is not finished. To keep Texas on the right track, we must come together, rally behind our nominees, and support the Republican ticket from top to bottom.
We are one party with one mission. Together, let’s defend our conservative values and keep Texas red.
Great news for Texas education: More high school students met grade-level expectations this year across every subject area, with progress across all student groups.
Last session, the Texas Legislature invested in classrooms, backed teachers, empowered parents, and put the focus back on learning with reforms like banning cell phones during the school day. The latest results show those measures are paying off.
More students are not only meeting grade level, but mastering foundational subjects like algebra, biology, English, and U.S. history—including among economically disadvantaged students, special education students, and emergent bilingual students.
Thank you to all the students, parents, and educators whose hard work is driving this progress and opening doors for the next generation.
The Texas House and Senate aren’t done supporting our students. Next session, we’ll continue working with Governor Abbott to build on this momentum so that every student graduates prepared for the opportunities ahead.
The @TexasTribune asked me for a comment about a House member calling for a hearing on the New World Screwworm, and here’s what I told them:
I have been working with Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary Brooke Rollins, Commissioner Sid Miller, the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, the cattle industry, and wildlife groups to help make every tool available to address the New World Screwworm. The House has held hearings, made this an interim charge, and will hold more hearings as necessary to help. As election season approaches, I am glad to see more House members begin to recognize the importance of the cattle and beef industry to Texas.
Today, I had the honor of attending the Department of Public Safety’s annual Peace Officers Memorial Service, paying tribute to the true heroes of our state who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their fellow Texans.
Alongside DPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin and members of the Public Safety Commission, we honored the lives, service, and sacrifice of fallen law enforcement personnel and stood with the families who continue to carry that loss each day.
There is no greater calling than to place yourself in harm’s way for the protection of others, and no greater expression of service than the sacrifice made by the officers we honored.
Let us never forget these heroes, and may Texas always remain grateful to the men and women who wear the badge to protect our freedoms and our future.
Exciting to see Texas’ push for a more efficient, accountable government already making a real impact.
Last session, lawmakers passed legislation creating the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office within the Governor’s Office to cut red tape, streamline state services, and modernize our regulatory landscape. Now, TREO is putting that work into action—rolling out new technology to make state rules easier to navigate and launching agency reviews to save Texans time and taxpayer dollars.
Proud to have helped lead these reforms with my colleagues in the House and Senate. We’re just getting started getting government out of the way of Texans’ lives and livelihoods.
Elisabeth and I are heartbroken to learn of the unexpected passing of Chad Hasty.
Texas has lost a powerful voice for conservative truth, integrity, and common sense. Chad wasn’t just a broadcaster, he was one of the very best to ever cover the people, policy, and politics shaping the Texas Legislature and our state. He asked the right questions, gave fair room for debate, and, most importantly, he made sure Texans stayed informed.
I’m especially grateful for the role Chad played in my own journey to and through the Texas House. Time and again, he offered me a seat at his microphone and the opportunity to speak directly to the people I serve. He believed in giving leaders a platform — and holding them accountable — and he did both with professionalism, respect, and a healthy dose of humor.
West Texas feels a lot quieter today with the loss of his voice.
We are deeply saddened and our prayers are with his family, his listeners, and all who knew him.
He will be greatly missed.
Yesterday, the House General Investigating Committee on the July 2025 Flooding concluded two days of joint hearings with our Senate counterparts, examining the facts and failures that led to the tragic loss of life at Camp Mystic last summer.
These proceedings required courage—from the families who have endured loss, from survivors and all those impacted who continue to carry the weight of that night, and from those entrusted with uncovering the truth. We are especially grateful to the Heaven’s 27 families, whose grief is profound and enduring, yet who have chosen to share their stories in the hope that no other family will experience such heartbreak.
What emerged is deeply painful: there were failures—of systems, of preparation, and of response. Nothing can undo that fact. However, we have a responsibility to confront these realities with honesty, to learn from them, and to act. We must ensure places meant for joy, character-building, and lifelong friendships—like summer camps—remain safe for every child.
I want to recognize the investigators, Casey Garrett and Justice Michael Massengale, for their work. Everyone agrees they did an incredible job. I want also to thank the members of both the House and Senate committees for their dedication to this effort—Chairs @MorganMeyerTX and @PeteFlores_TX, Vice-Chairs @moodyforelpaso and @electcharles, and members @DrewDarbyTX, @PaulDysonTX, @RepErinEGamez, @SenBryanHughes, @LoisKolkhorst, and @Menendez4Texas. They probed and are leading to bring out the truth, so we can better protect our children and families from future disasters.
Protecting Texas children is one of the most serious responsibilities of lawmakers, and we will treat it that way—especially in an increasingly digital world.
After recently speaking with Rep. @donfortexas, I was alerted to a graphic, first-person shooter game on the online platform Roblox recreating the tragedy at Robb Elementary and targeting young users. That alone is indefensible. But it’s not an outlier—it reflects a broader failure to prevent violent, explicit, and predatory content from reaching children.
Today, I issued an additional interim charge directing the House Committee on State Affairs to take a hard look at these failures and hold platforms like Roblox accountable—focusing on content moderation, age verification, and prevention of exploitation and predatory contact between minors and adults.
When nearly 40 percent of Roblox’s 144 million daily users are under 13, there must be zero tolerance for weak safeguards and indifferent oversight. Platforms that allow content glorifying real-world violence are putting children at risk.
The Texas House will not look the other way while companies aimed at children permit—and profit from—this kind of environment. Accountability is coming, and we will be ready to act.
I am grateful to Rep. McLaughlin for raising awareness of this issue, and to Chairman @KingForTexas and the State Affairs committee for taking this on and working toward better protections for our next generation.
The Texas House is committed to providing real, lasting property tax relief for Texans and ensuring it cannot be undone by local governments. As I emphasized today at the TPPF 2026 Policy Summit, we will deliver the biggest and boldest property tax reform session in Texas history.
It was great to sit down with @gsindelar to discuss the work we’ve accomplished and the priorities ahead for the 90th Legislature. Our focus remains clear: get government out of the way of prosperity. That is exactly what we did with the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act, and we will continue building on that foundation.
We will lead on the issues that matter most, including strengthening protections against foreign adversaries, investing in long-term water infrastructure, addressing housing affordability, and advancing solutions to make health care and health insurance more affordable and accessible for Texas families.
Texas is winning because we have stayed committed to conservative principles that drive growth, opportunity, and freedom. Businesses are choosing Texas, families are moving here, and our economy continues to lead the nation.
Now is the time to stay united, protect that momentum, and deliver results that keep Texas on top. #txlege
We will not lose the Texas House. We will fight to retain every Republican seat. I look forward to the fall campaign where we get to talk about Texas’ prosperity under Republican leadership; and, I trust the voters of Texas to continue to vote for conservative government up and down the ballot!
Great to be with Plains Cotton Growers at their Annual Meeting this morning.
The High Plains produces nearly one-third of the nation’s cotton. That’s not just impressive, it’s essential to Texas’ economy and the strength of our rural communities.
Last session, we took action with HB 43 to expand access to loans and grants and give producers real tools to navigate rising costs, low prices, and ongoing challenges.
And we’re not done. The interim charges I issued make clear we’re focused on keeping Texas agriculture strong, from improving access to capital to tackling threats like invasive species.
Appreciate the producers and leaders who continue to show up and fight for this industry.
Texas is, and will remain, a pro-agriculture state.
Texas is leading again with a commonsense step that puts families first.
Starting today, SNAP benefits will be focused on nutritious food—not items with little to no health value. Prohibiting SNAP from being used on candy and soft drinks is a smart, straightforward reform that encourages Texans to make healthier choices while ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.
Thank you to Rep. @StanGerdesforTX for leading this effort in the House and @mayes_middleton in the Senate last session—another practical solution for a healthier Texas.
Today, I issued interim charges for House committees of the 89th Texas Legislature to guide our work ahead of the next legislative session in 2027. These priorities build on our recent progress, strengthen accountability in government, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure key initiatives are carried out as intended—while laying the foundation for a strong 90th Legislative Session.
Thank you to our committee chairs and all who contributed their insight throughout this process. Together, we will continue advancing the freedom and opportunity that drives Texas. #txlege
Texas would proudly welcome Exxon Mobil home following today’s announcement that the company plans to move its legal home from New Jersey to the Lone Star State. This decision is a strong vote of confidence in our state, our energy leadership, and the business-friendly policies that make Texas the best place in the nation to do business.
From Fortune 500 companies to small independent businesses, state leaders have worked to build an environment that attracts investment, creates jobs, and opens the door to world-class opportunity. In addition to the $51 billion property tax relief package the Texas legislature passed last year, lawmakers strengthened our position as a national business leader by modernizing corporate law to give companies clearer governance rules and expanding the Texas Business Court system to better resolve complex corporate disputes.
And we’re just getting started. Working alongside Governor Abbott, the Texas legislature will continue advancing policies that support business, strengthen our economy, and expand opportunity for Texans.
I stood with my West Texas House colleagues yesterday on the two-year anniversary of the Smokehouse Creek Fire—one of the largest natural disasters in our state’s history—to reflect on how far Texas has come in strengthening preparedness and mitigation.
In the wake of that devastation, Chairman @KingForTexas led a comprehensive investigation to ensure lawmakers learned from the disaster and acted decisively. As one of the five members on that investigative committee, I saw firsthand his compassion and diligence as we heard testimony from state agencies, utility providers, local leaders, and impacted Texans. That work resulted in meaningful new laws to better equip volunteer fire departments, strengthen rural emergency services, and more.
Thanks to Chairman King’s leadership and the tireless advocacy of @DrewDarbyTX, @BrooksLandgraf, @CarlTepper and others, Texas is stronger today. But our work continues. Next session, I will make improving interoperability among emergency responders a top priority so they can communicate effectively and protect Texans without delay.
I’m grateful to the first responders, local leaders, West Texas delegation, and our communities who turned tragedy into action. Because of you, Texas is more resilient and ready for the challenges ahead.
