HUMMINGBIRD LOVERS GET READY!
The great hummingbird migration has just started and is currently underway across Minnesota, southern Canada and Maine. You'll start to see even more heading south across the country in the weeks ahead. Get those hummingbird feeders out!
Dolly Parton once described the Smokies as “one of those special places that God put here for us to enjoy.”
At Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s 75th anniversary celebration in 2009, she sang about that special place in “My Mountains, My Home.”

I think we all need a little mountain wildness, a little Southern sweetness, a whole lot of pink—and just enough sparkle to make the whole world look brighter. #DollyParton 💯💔
@KimMulkey@LSUwbkb So pour yourselves a little extra ambition, LSU. ☕💜 Because there’s no limit to what a woman can accomplish when she believes in herself—and there’s nothing quite like a team of women who believe in one another.
Her light, being a strong Tennessee woman, songwriting, charisma, wittiness, and the ability to make fun of herself and the ability to inspire the world is what I think about when I think of Dolly. When you live your life and people can recognize you by one name, Dolly, I think that says it all. Rest in peace Dolly.
Dolly Parton never wanted us fighting over whether she was red or blue. She wanted us to ALL be Americans.
And she showed us what she believed in:
- Kids should have books.
- People struggling deserve help.
- Everyone deserves dignity.
- Success means giving something back.
- And kindness doesn't require a party affiliation.
Maybe the best way to honor Dolly to build a country that looks a little more like the one she spent her life trying to create:
Kinder. More generous. Less judgmental. And looking out for one another.
That feels like a pretty damn good direction for tomorrow.
Rest in peace, Dolly ❤️

“Dolly Parton’s legacy is not celebrity, but humanity. She came from poverty to become the most important native of Tennessee. She shared her fortunes for the good of all of us, and shared her soul in every note she sang.” –Kyle Young, CEO
