I’m a pediatrician and it is my job + moral duty to keep kids safe. Standing up to injustices that harm kids + advocating for systemic change is core to what pediatricians do. Firearm-related injury is the #1 cause of death in US children. This is 💯our lane. #DoctorsForGunSafety
So Proud of my friend @KimMukerjee who hosted the annual New Orleans Children’s Health Project toy and food drive today. This is my 2nd year participating (picking up 92 hams!) & what a wonderful experience for our whole family to help immigrant families in the city! #pedstwitter
My team hosts a large, annual winter resource event for families in need from our clinic in #NewOrleans. We also provide year-round support for necessities such as diapers. If you’d like to help us help our littlest patients, we need diapers of all sizes: https://t.co/KtZnhLTVmN
We have set up an Amazon wishlist where gift cards can be purchased in varying quantities. These go directly in to the hands of the families. Last year we helped 600 people. We’d be very grateful for the support to help hundreds more this year. https://t.co/KtZnhLTVmN
My team hosts an annual resource drive for families in need from our clinic around the holidays. We provide food, blankets, diapers, hygiene items, toys + more. Each family also receives a $100 @Visa gift card to help w/additional expenses. We are in need of additional donations:
These families face unimaginable hardship throughout the year such as food insecurity, housing instability + lack of health insurance to access medicine for their children. We try to provide a little something extra this time of year. We still need gift cards for several families
The gift cards help provide additional economic assistance for food, medications, clothing and more. We can’t do this piece without the support of generous donors. If you’d like to help, please find our gift card wishlist here:

Each year my team provides much-needed resources to hundreds of children from my clinic and their families. We do this with the generous support of so many of you. We provide food, blankets, diapers, toys + hygiene items. Each family also gets a $100 @Visa gift card.

4.6 million US kids live in homes with at least 1 loaded & unlocked gun. Annually, 350 kids gain access to a firearm & unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else, sometimes fatally. Help spread the Be SMART message to keep kids safe https://t.co/uVrI413Xra @nolahealthdept
Thank you @KimMukerjee for representing the chapter and @CHNOLA at the Be SMART press conference today.
Louisiana has the second highest gun death rate in the country. Secure your firearms to protect children and adolescents from accidental and intentional shootings.
