The reason, the REAL reason the Asian Pop category for the Grammys was created was to ensure that Asian acts keep releasing in their languages and STOP singing in English. Foreign languages don’t get played on the radio here. Radio songs chart higher. +
and last thing im gonna say is, ARMYs are the only fandom who immediately recognized that new asian category for what it is: blatant racism, while others were celebrating a potential win for their faves. the fact that BTS, an asian group, thinks the same as us says a lot. 🙏🏽

One ARMY. One Stream. One Voice. 💜
This also means Grammys cannot invite them for a performance just to get clout and viewership. They pulled that sht several times already.
It is the same power move our boys did about ME. Good for them.
At the end of the day, Grammys needs BTS.
i think it's worth noting that bts made this announcement just after we watched in real time as fifa omitted their names from official posts and delayed putting up their performance. i think bts are very much as aware as we are that the industry doesn't like that their success.
bb changed their rules MULTIPLE times to directly hinder bts' ability to chart, Spotify has spent the last week glitching streams from Normal and splitting versions so bts can't claim more records. and everyone knows why the scammys made that category.
its genuinely the world against bts and army are all they have, save for ONE k-artist willing to stand by them.
Multiple major news outlets including Forbes, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, BBC and The Independent have reached out to the Recording Academy for comment following BTS' decision not to submit their music for this year's GRAMMYs.
— The Recording Academy remains completely silent with no response so far.
south korea’s government lured bts with an exemption for years to control them but bts enlisted on their own terms and made sure to announce it in front of the government that had been holding their necks. now the grammys have created an “asian” category to segregate bts from the main awards and bts stood their ground by refusing to participate in that racism and oppression. historians will write about you, bts.
I think it speaks volumes that Bangtan showed up and was grateful for 100% fan-voted American Music Awards even tho they were tired, but are boycotting an award show notorious for its bias, unfounded superiority, and blatant non-inclusivity.
The silence from their industry peers and collaborators—both in Korea and in the US—is getting loud. Nobody else willing to stick their neck out, it seems.
Bad bunny, Shakira's fandom and all African fans seriously making me cry, they're the one who understood why bts did and how much it was needed to bring a change, if only k-pop industry and asian acts supported them the same way...
I think BTS decision is also about their legacy. They may not want to be seen as winners of a category created around their background, but as artists who were recognized for their music on the same level as other major acts. It's not about the award itself but what it represents
NME supported BTS. 🔥
"Pop music is pop music, regardless of geographical location, the racial or ethnic identity of those making it, the language it’s sung in, or any other factor you might choose to segregate people by."
