AUKUS. A disaster on every front:
delivery, cost, sovereignty. From one Gareth Evans - with ‘personal ministerial experience as a junior allied partner of the US’ in the 1991 hot conflict of the Gulf war: ‘and my recollections are not pretty’.
Two swimming pools, 9 tennis courts que?
On top of $100m from wealthy private donors, state and fed govts tip in $86m in public grants for Hakoah Club.
@Lochinvar001 on this ... and the other Australia too

Waiting until next year to impose new mandatory standards on data centres - and their power and water use - risks everyday Australians paying more for their own power.
I'm also concerned that the govt has said the new rules will only apply to new data centres.
And where's the plan to get a long term benefit for Australians from them?

wtaf?? a jewish community sports centre in one of the wealthiest areas of Sydney gets more than $86mill in funding from govs while others can't get funding from same programs for toilets at all, or indoor ones, at their clubs. bullshit. thx @MichaelWestBiz good article
On the very day Trump imposes an increase in tariffs on Australia, our government announces they'll throw an extra $4.6 billion at AUKUS, which is lining US coffers with Australian gold.
We really are the biggest suckers on the world stage.
Did you see this? Home Affairs has denied a visa to the ex-ASIO source who tried to warn about the Bondi gunmen. This is a deeply political decision, and now the Royal Commission may never hear his evidence.
It looks like a stitch up by those who don't want this on the record.
Another reminder about the urgent need for legislated guardrails for artificial intelligence.
Not regulating this technology is negligent.
Australians want stronger regulation. Parliament needs to step up.

Robodebt architects escaped unscathed, but the system still punishes whistleblowers who exposed them.
@JeanniemarieBl1 is now fighting for justice in the Federal Court.
Nobody should be threatened just for speaking the truth. She should have been rewarded for her courage.
Australians need to know this
This man is a US citizen currently working in Australia
He is speaking here at our RC on behalf of a quasi astro-turfing group - Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism - the same shadowy group that derailed the Bendigo Writers' Festival last year and targeted an Australian citizen, Dr Abdel-Fattah
The AAAAA's actions resulted in a mass boycott of the Bendigo festival resulting in millions of dollars in lost tourism, damaged reputations and complete acrimony
Once again - this man is a US citizen defending the actions and interests of a foreign government, Israel, in bombing and killing children, while, as a guest in our country, he interferes in Australia's social and cultural life and attempts to dictate how our universities are run
.
The PM today said he will allow government data to be consumed by US AI companies which raises real questions of consent, privacy and surveillance risk for every Australian. It's hard to see how that's in the public interest.
WTF! Did you know the Queensland Government has just cut funding to family violence’s services by $40 million! In a week where two women and two girls have been murdered they are cutting funding to help women and children finding safety from male violence.
Four Australian women have been killed in four days by men known to them.
This is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the families, friends, and communities grieving the loss of loved ones.
Back in January I called for a Royal Commission into family and domestic violence. We cant continue to accept this level of violence against women.
A Royal Commission is the most comprehensive, transparent and credible way to uncover systemic failures, identify what is and isn't working, and ensure victim-survivors are not re-traumatised by the very institutions meant to protect them. We need governments to treat family and domestic violence like the national crisis it is, and to act.

Private actors are increasing their control over energy, fuel, housing, food, healthcare & education. They drive inflation & drag down living standards. We need price controls & more public delivery to protect Australia from inflation & profiteering. My op-ed w @smh#auspol
More women have been murdered since 2024 by men than all Australians killed by terrorism globally in the past 100 years. Yet there are no Royal Commission’s for women still. No emergency task forces. No addresses to the nation. No days of mourning

I think most people in New South Wales would be concerned if they found out that the New South Wales Police, using data from an Israeli corporation, could access every message you’ve ever sent, every photo you’ve ever taken, your location at any given moment,

Albanese’s timidity saw a $27,000,000,000 bonus handed over to the foreign shareholders of the under-taxed foreign companies — exporting virtually free Australian gas to their foreign consumers.
An avoidable disaster any way you look at it.

Albanese Govt fighting hard to prevent us knowing where the nuclear waste from his AUKUS debacle will be stored! We have a right to know. I stand with @MrRexPatrick in pursuing this answer. #auspol
I asked Govt a simple question: Where will #AUKUS ☢️ waste be put? They refused me access to that info so I challenged them in a Tribunal, and won. They’ve now appealed to a court and threatened me ($150K) costs if I fight them. #NewSecrecyTactic#auspol https://t.co/VvKewMS9ej
