@Hopebagels2@isathehunter Both games are linear, but one does a much better job using its structure to work in tandem with the narrative and gameplay mechanics and it's not the one that has blitzball!
@isathehunter You found it meh, I found the combat system in 13 fun so building the right setups to take on harder and harder enemies was more engaging to me than any side activity in 10.
@bibideeznuts@airbagg3d It makes sense in the narrative and at no point in the game did I find myself wishing I could go back to the areas I went through, not because they were bad areas, but because I was rewarded going through them as is.
@bluthundyr@airbagg3d It isn't convoluted at all is the thing. The game makes it very clear what everything is, people just saw new terms and went "what's that mean????" right away and didn't wait a couple minutes for the game to explain fal'Cie, l'Cie, and cie'th
@bluthundyr@airbagg3d Aha! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! At no point do you have to read the datalog to understand the story, the game uses flashback and context clues to tell you everything about the hook and the terms all within the first few hours!
@JamesXStefano@airbagg3d As for activities in 10, unless you like blitzball then really your only activity until the calm lands, which is a chunk through the game, is dodging lightning bolts. And monster hunts on Pulse in 13 is better than the capture arena in 10 imo
@JamesXStefano@airbagg3d See, I enjoyed the story and characters and especially the combat in 13 considerably more than 10. 10s combat for the majority of the game is like playing a match game while even with the limited roles in the first part of 13 it created interesting opportunities in battle.
@batsukaiju@cactender These aren't real criticisms. You have to understand that, right? Saying something is 'a fake MMO' is meaningless. There's nothing substantial in "all its games are ass" or "it would've been cooler if it was different". This is "it's bad because it's bad" levels. Okay, why?
