After reading “Perfect Snow”, students became interested in how Barbara Reid used plasticine to make her illustrations. We have been enjoying making our own plasticine illustrations just like Barbara Reid!
With all the puddles we had in our field today, we felt inspired to build boats and see which ones would float. Lots of great discussions around why some of our boats sank and how we will make them better next time!
We got to do our Walking Water science experiment! Students were so surprised to see the water travel up the paper towel and then change colour! We had lots of scientists observing and making predictions about what would happen next. “The colour is soaking everything up!” FK
Today we explored coding to help us retell our read aloud “The Snowy Day”. Students were excited to share what they know about coding and now we are looking forward to learning more about coding!
We have so many builders with big imaginations in our class! RH explained the creation that him and his friends built together, “Its a spaceship that has a soccer field on it and this is where you score a goal”.
After we enjoyed reading our pigeon books we got to play the board game of “Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus!”. We had to work together and take turns to make sure the pigeon didn’t drive our bus!

Students have been very excited to discover animal tracks in the snow. “I think these ones are rabbit footprints because I’ve seen rabbit footprints in the snow at my house before. They are close together” JB

After reading about 2D shapes, JC called a teacher over and said “I found a circle and square in my lunch!”. Challenge your child by asking what shapes they can find in their house or even on their morning walk to school!
