We have completed the restoration of a pond a ditch system on the edge of the Cam washes. The pond had not been cleared for several decades and was full of silt with no open water. We have reinstated the pond and ditch out to the River, as ideal fish nursery habitat.
Were you aware that in our new quirky shop, we have all of these little beauties on offer?
So what are you waiting for........see you soon down at Kingfishers Bridge🐝#Honey#candles🕯️
Good news for all birders wanting to get a head start on their year ticks on 1st January, as we’ve recorded more than 70 species on the Reserve over the last couple of days including Spoonbill, Pink-footed geese, Bearded tit, Snipe and 1000 Lapwing.

Wow, thanks for all the likes and follows! Here’s some bonus content - hardly award winning and didn’t quite catch the whole flock on camera but had a lovely cloud of fieldfares clack-clacking overhead @KingFishers_B 👍 From the fjords to the #fens!
Found a new nature reserve this weekend: Kingfishers Bridge near Stretham (Ely way). Lovely to think this could just be fields but someone decided to earmark this corner of the fens for wildlife!
Golden leaves, blue skies and big white birds (Spoonbills & a great white egret 😄)
First trip to Kingfishers Bridge NR and 2 new ticks! 5 Avocets (at last!), rather distant hence not-great shot but lovely to finally see some, and a trio of Bar-tailed godwits. Again pretty distant even with my camera zoom but very pleased nonetheless 🙂 @CambsBirdClub
Walk round Kingfishers Bridge NR. RingO still in cow field on kingfishers Bridge.
Garganey drake, Little, gull and bar tailed godwit and 4 avocet on main lake. Few sedge warblers and whitethroat and sand martins. My first hirundines of the year. @CambsBirdClub
The Meadows are well flooded at Kingfishers Bridge this winter, with more rain on the way which should help with the recovery of the local groundwater.
The new bird hide has been craned into position on the mound this morning. The lift went fantastically well and we're now busy landscaping and laying the power cable ready for connection at the end of the week
A successful day removing the two old hides from the mound and starting to level the new area for the replacement hide. Stunning views from the mound despite the windy conditions.
With the open weekend out of the way work began today to remove the old north facing hides on the mound ready for the installation of our much larger new hide. The new hide will have power allowing us... https://t.co/lXxGY0R7li
