You think you want material things but you really want freedom
The material things are a bandage to help you get through the pain of not having freedom. Once you get freedom you can get all the material things you want as long as they don’t jeopardize your freedom… but you’re going to want “things” less and less, or you’ll buy things because they are cool, well crafted, dope design, to support the owner, buy from a collection etc but you’ll slow all the way down buying things just to get a quick dopamine hit, get your freedom first then the fly shii after…that was my path and that’s the path I suggest for all of you.
Got a dope car? Doesn’t matter if you aren’t free, Rolex? Who cares you are free, fancy vacation? Doesn’t matter it ends and you go back to not being free… but when I say free I’m not talking about strictly not having a job but the option to chose where you want, chose the labor you do, do what you like to do instead of doing what pays the best, the freedom to express yourself without the fear of financial consequences, the freedom to help the people who deserve it, the freedom to not be in a rush, to stay out late because you’re having a good time, to wake up earlier and watch the sunshine without needing every hour of sleep, because if you’re sleepy you’ll go back to bed. Freedom comes in many forms but the main thing is don’t put material things first they will slow you down on your journey to freedom, assets will speed up the journey, that car payment is costing you your freedom bro, the fancy apartment or house all of that is money that can be used to give you escape velocity
@chrissssjohnson Rough math for everyone. 2k bought you nearly 9 bitcoin in 2015 which is just under a million in today's prices. I.E - 2k turned into 1 M or 1k turned into 500k. Which is a 500x investment. Chris expects 1/10th of that now by 2035 which would be 50x => 2k=100k =1yr freedom
Idk who needs to hear this but… you’ve been “networking” for years, Collected all these contacts, and followed up with none… I think it’s time to settle down, isolate for a bit, put more focus into yourself and personal growth, stop chasing new leads, & follow up w/ the people that’s already in your phone.
That’s like reading book after book but instead of executing what’s in your favorite one, you just read another one and never execute on the next book either…
Learn how to execute simultaneously as you educate. Leads & Education w/ no execution is pointless.
The best part about being rich is owning 24 hours of everyday. There’s no car, jewelry, mansion, vacation or private jet that will ever give you this feeling. It doesn’t mean you do nothing all day, but you’re very intentional about what you do, don’t do, and who you do it with
@Gibby239@chrissssjohnson Alternatively though not the same as owning bitcoin per se you could buy shares in a bitcoin ETF. You wouldn't own the bitcoin or be able to send it anywhere but you would realize the value when bitcoin's price appreciates.
@Gibby239@chrissssjohnson You can buy it on the exchange and immediately send it to your own wallet, so even if the company goes bankrupt they won't have your funds.
@Camp4 I agree with entirety of this post, save that I would argue sometimes exercise can be more than about overall fitness. A lot of "iron heads" would not like being indistinguishable from other people when fully clothed.
@XavierHelgesen 100 percent agree, valuation matters. For your example though doesn't it only hold true (negative return) if you bought in 88 and never again? Looking at the chart if you had consistently bought before/after you should come out ahead
@nations_jared@JoeCassandra I think what Joe's ultimately saying by "10-30M being the key" is complete financial freedom leads to time/location freedom. With those concerns in the rear view you can now focus on what you find to be enriching and have the money/time/ability to actively pursue it.
@artwithinpod Hard disagree. It had many issues with CGI, but was humorous throughout, had entertaining action scenes and fun visuals. The "let go"message had even greater depth because it was applied on the personal level as well as when the greatest stakes were on the line.
@DividendKingTSX Assuming its after tax -Spread about 3-5 million of it into a mix of dividend kings and aristocrats to obtain about a 4% yield, 2 million in an S&P ETF (dollar cost average in over 5-10 year timeframe) 1 million in crypto, million in treasuries, maybe last million in property.
