Here’s what people miss about narcissistic behavior: it’s not actually sophisticated.

It looks sophisticated because it’s being deployed by someone with adult cognitive skills. But the emotional mechanism is childish.

A narcissist rages when you set a boundary. A toddler rages when you say no. The emotional development is identical.

The difference: the narcissist is 40. And that terrifies people. Because you expect 40-year-olds to have grown. But this one didn’t.

Emotionally, they’re still the hurt child. Everything else is just compensation.

It’s not just in the narcissistic family. This happens in public forums as well.

When a narcissist targets someone and smear campaigns them, they’re scapegoating them. Same as how narcissist parents do to their scapegoat child.

They are using that person for attention, to project their faults onto, for sadistic pleasure, to “leapfrog” over them.
And all the other narcissists and flying monkeys who jump in on it and side with the smear campaign, they’re bonding over some kind of evil, sadistic thrill campaign.

It’s really sad and pathetic when you see them for what they really are and what they’re really doing.
