He,Him,They,Them and Bi
While most people watch this scene in Obsession and assume "Wish Nikki" is just trying to look terrifyingly uncanny or use the roses as a twisted symbol of love, the real theory is much darker: the flowers are a biological shield. During her breakdown in the corner, "Real Nikki" was fighting violently to gain consciousness and scream for help, causing the One Wish Willow’s magic to literally glitch and fracture. She grabbed the vase because her face was actively melting and deforming into the blank, expressionless entity of the Willow itself, needing to hide the physical "rendering error" from Bear while the curse rebooted her human appearance. This is a direct nod to René Magritte’s painting The Son of Man (where an apple hides a face) because everything we see hides something else Wish Nikki is forcing Bear to look at "love" while hiding the grotesque reality underneath. Look closely at the puppet-like, jerky movements right before this and how her face goes completely blank and hollow the second she gets into bed; if you look between the stems, her eye is rolling into the back of her head. Curry Barker secretly hid a horrific body-horror transformation right in front of us, which begs the question: is this psychological horror, or did Bear’s subconscious definition of "love" literally create a faceless, mindless object?
