I got this email and honestly (while it will never happen) I wish I didn’t have to run ads at all. I know I’m blessed by a community who would support me with subs ads or no, but increasing ads for “more revenue” or keeping preroll ads on is insane.

If you already have prerolls turned off by running 3M of ads per hour, Twitch is instead emailing to say you should INCREASE the number of ads they run.

In some remarkable marketing, they say that if you run more ads, you may make more money. Mind-blowing stuff.

The new Twitch policy that anyone to get subs, bits, emotes etc are forgetting some of things:

- you don’t get the payout outside of Twitch until you are affiliate
- if your channel has no ads what’s the sub benefit outside of support
- emotes can only be used on your channel

That being said, I think this move is fine. The bar to hit affiliate isn’t huge and this will hopefully encourage some of you to stick with creating and building an audience.
