So,
so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish,
how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl,
year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here
Yesterday marked the 51st anniversary of one of the greatest albums in Rock History.
On September 12, 1975, Pink Floyd released “Wish You Were Here,” their 9th studio album, just two years after the monumental success of “The Dark Side of the Moon.” Roger Waters, the primary lyricist, decided to center the entire album on the concept of absence, a direct response to the emptiness the band felt in the wake of such sudden fame.
At the heart of the album was “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” a nine-part piece dedicated to Syd Barrett, the band’s founder who had been ousted from the group years earlier due to his mental decline.
The album reached number one in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and over time became David Gilmour and Richard Wright’s personal favorite among Pink Floyd’s entire discography.
On September 11, 2011, on the 10th anniversary of the tragic attack on the Twin Towers, Paul Simon performed “The Sound of Silence” at Ground Zero. Surrounded by the victims’ families, he sang amid complete silence.

JFK on the ocean:
"It is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea — whether it is to sail or to watch it — we are going back from whence we came."
— John F. Kennedy
“We can keep ourselves so busy, fill our lives with so many diversions, stuff our heads with so much knowledge, involve ourselves with so many people and cover so much ground that we never have time to probe the fearful and wonderful world within… By middle life, most of us are accomplished fugitives from ourselves.”
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave, but don't leave me
Look around
Choose your own ground
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down
It's time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave
Putin pure. Per uno di loro cercate attenuanti.
Il bambino di Rafah ha un aggressore. Quello di Kharkiv improvvisamente ha una geopolitica.
Sotto c’è un riflesso vecchio. Israele sempre colpevole, Mosca ancora patria degli oppressi, trentacinque anni dopo la fine dell’URSS.
Non state dalla parte degli aggrediti.
Scegliete quali aggrediti meritano la vostra bandiera.
He was a brilliant, multi-talented soul: a man who was passionate about aeroplanes, possessed a legendary knowledge of drones, had an amazing singing voice, and could strum a guitar.

“In the end,
I believe there is nothing we must do to be loved.
We spend our lives trying to look more beautiful, more intelligent.
But I've understood two things:
Those who love us see us with their hearts and give us qualities
beyond the ones we truly have.
And those who refuse to love us will never be satisfied with all our efforts.
Yes, truly.
I believe it is important to let our imperfections be.
They are precious,
for they help us understand those who see us with the heart.”
— Frida Kahlo
Where were you when I was burned and broken?
While the days slipped by from my window watching
And where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless?
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun
Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside, the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight... into the shining sun
"You must go in quest of yourself, and you will find yourself again only in the simple and forgotten things. Why not go into the forest for a time, literally? Sometimes a tree tells you more than can be read in books… "
—Carl Jung
