Former Kiplinger Fellow @ChristopherJM is now, and has been, since the invasion of Ukraine, an authoritative source in the press’ efforts to cover this war on the field and in the board rooms. Today’s @financialtimes Great job.
No, there is no way there is a deal done "this week" or "by the end of the month". And there is no chance of the Ukrainians accepting this proposal – which is not a deal, but a demand for Ukraine's complete surrender.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy signalled interest in buying 100 French-made Rafale fighter jets for Ukraine’s armed forces over the next decade as Russia’s war grinds on. He signed a letter of intent together with Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday.

Applications for the 2026 Kiplinger Fellowship are now open. Theme: Saving Local News: A Practical Guide, May 11-14 @ohiou Inviting all community newsrooms to apply. Trainers from top organizations already signed on. Go here: https://t.co/KbjFpWJKV2
Zelensky confirms our @FT earlier reporting about his trip to the US on Friday: “[T]he main focus of the visit is air defense and our long-range capabilities aimed at exerting pressure on Russia for the sake of peace.”
Also: “There will be several other important meetings – with defense companies, and possibly with senators and members of Congress. I will also meet with energy companies. This is necessary – it was President Trump’s proposal – and I will meet with these companies because there are pressing needs linked to various formats of attacks, not even the attacks that Russia has already carried out. In any case, we must be prepared. So, it will be helpful.”

I've arrived and departed from the Kostyantynivka train station more than 100(!) times since 2010. In fact, it was the station I arrived at when I headed east to move to Bakhmut 15 years ago. I've only passed through Kyiv's central station more. Now Kostyantynivka station is in ruins after several Russian strikes. Before and after photos below. And here is a photo of me in October 2010, waiting on the Kostyantynivka station platform for one of those many night trains.
Major kudos to Kip alumni @blakekaplan (R) and @bymatthewthall for their lobbying efforts on behalf of @newsalliance
Publishers are lobbying to stop Big Tech giants from taking content without payment, draining the creators of quality content of the resources they need. Get em.
Proud to be part of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network cohort—grateful for the insights, community, and commitment to telling climate stories that matter. I learned so much during this program. Truly eye-opening to get perspectives from around the world #ClimateJournalism
Local journalism provides the “first draft of history” in our communities and is a great opportunity for collaboration with local history initiatives.

The Arizona Republic’s climate reporter Joan Meiners leads a riveting panel discussion at #SEJ2025 about the scientists and conference participants who at the last minute refused to speak or meet publicly. Check out the video: https://t.co/GAnXkgWb8W @sejorg@beecycles
We are at #MoJoFest25 where mobile journalism is once again taking a front seat in storytelling, journalism’s future and AI advancement. Great minds from the globe’s corners gathered here. Solid programming. #journalism#ireland#AI #
I'll be at @ElectrifyExpo in Phoenix/Glendale this afternoon at @StateFarmStdm as a guest panelist on stage at 1pm -- talking about the environmental advantages, costs, tradeoffs & myths of electric vehicles as a top #climate solution in Arizona & beyond. (Not an endorsement.)
New: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of enlisting more than 150 Chinese nationals to fight in Ukraine, some allegedly recruited via TikTok and with tacit approval from Beijing. Story coming @FT.
How much has the perception of Trump shifted in Ukraine?
In December, 54% of Ukrainians said Trump's presidency would be good for Ukraine.
By March, only 19% thought so, and 73% of Ukrainians now say Trump is bad for their country.
