I had a student who never turned on his camera because he was experiencing homelessness.
I had another student who was sharing a two bedroom apartment with a total of 7 family members.
I had another one who was living in an unfinished basement.

As a new immigrant, I went to bed hungry bc I didn’t know food banks existed. Life as a newcomer is hard, you’re trying to keep afloat.
How does one expect them to know where the vaccine clinics are, how to book appts, get time off etc when they’re just trying to survive?
I get frustrated when I see "rigorous" and "evidence-based" applied exclusively (or even primarily) to quantitative research. Narrative research is also "rigorous." Stories are evidence. Emotions are evidence. Analysis of affective responses is evidence. History is evidence.

Excited to announce that I will be joining the University of Toronto as the Director of EDI in Research and Innovation!! I guess Twitter official makes it official 🎉🍾
