Ni mbaya,,, Chesaaaa!!
It really should not take an MBA to understand the cause of the absolute mess that is Nairobi.
Garbage everywhere.
@SakajaJohnson is in over his head. Has no idea what the heck he is doing.
Let me help him.
Nairobi County has the largest population of all counties. 4.6 million.
Has about 16,000 employees. This is 0.3% of the population in Nairobi.
Has many issues given the population, importance of city, etc. To lead this city requires the capacity to read data, understand problems and causes, and the deployment of scarce resources, EFFICIENTLY, to meet needs.
The man that was elected is largely illiterate. And you can witness that by just looking at what is happening.
In 2023-2024, he spent 55% of Nairobi's KSH 33 billion on salaries alone. For the 0.3% population in government.
This equates to KSH 2 million per year. For each employee. For context, the average Nairobi resident makes KSH 723,000.
Having done that - he now must perform magic to serve 99.7% of Nairobians with the 45% of revenue that remains.
Impossible. But he does not understand this.
Having blown 55% of KSH 33 billion on 0.3% of the population, he then went on an insane binge travel cycle.
19 people hit Marakech Morroco to study "proactive management". KSH 37 million is wasted.
14 people go to Canada to study "conflict resolution". KSH 9.6 million is wasted.
Another 7 people head to Dubai to learn all about "personal branding". KSH 9 million is wasted.
When it's all said and done, KSH 1.2 billion is wasted. On nonsensical travel.
Folks - there is a price for having an illiterate person making big decisions. People don't want to hear the truth, but the incapacity to read data and make smart decisions here is unmistakable.
In one of the attachments here, I compare Nairobi's spending on salaries and META (formerly Facebook).
META is one of the biggest companies globally. USD 164 billion, with a b, in revenue. in 2024.
It spent 25% of its revenue on salaries. This company which must attract the very best of talent in the most competitive markets spent 25% of its revenue on salaries.
@NairobiCityGov which is required to be very efficient in serving citizens, says, nope. We will spend 55% of revenue on 0.3% of residents in Nairobi.
When the legal limit is 35%. This results in KSH 6.7 billion being stolen from citizens, to the 0.3%.
So, KSH 1.2 billion is lost on nonsensical travel. KSH 6.7 billion is stolen through illegal spending on salaries.
Just under KSH 8 billion is lost. In one year.
Now take this and extrapolate this stupidity over a 5-year term. And you begin to understand the bind you are in.
We need common sense and business sense in government affairs. We need smart people in government.
If Nairobi was to limit salaries to 25% of revenue like META does, this would free up KSH 10 billion immediately. In one year.
Streets can be cleaned. Garbage collected. Hospitals built and equipped.
No magic required.
Just common sense and business sense.

I’ve been told they’re planning something. If our account disappears or goes silent even for an hour, just know they’ve gotten to us. We will not be silenced. #77ninumber
Kenya’s government should rein in its security forces, ending the abductions of dissidents and prosecuting those responsible for killing protesters. It must also make a visible effort to improve public services, while curbing corruption and excess https://t.co/H1KWtHYXGP

Imagine the president of Kenya Mr Ruto has dispatched goons to attack mothers at a press conference @thekhrc! They are being beaten and robbed. Now you know who sent the criminals who gang raped women on June 25, 2025 in Nairobi. Ruto is a dark, evil monster. #RutoMustGo
President William Ruto has responded to recent protests with brutality and censorship. A spiral of riot and repression is eroding civil liberties and may jeopardise economic reforms https://t.co/OFSgAFAPFe
