A lot of investors seem confused about the MTNGH/MMFL dividend being paid today, so here's a quick clarification.
The dividend you are receiving is MTNGH's quarterly dividend for 2026. MTNGH is currently the only company on the Ghana Stock Exchange that pays dividends on a quarterly basis.
This payment covers the first quarter of 2026. If declared, MTNGH may also pay an interim dividend later in the year, before paying its final dividend for the 2026 financial year in 2027.
Dividend investing is not just about buying shares—it's about understanding where the income is coming from and how the business generates it.
How much dividend did you receive today?
One of the biggest barriers to investing on the Ghana Stock Exchange today is the CSD account registration process.
Many first-time investors are excited to start investing. They download an investment app, complete their registration, fund their accounts, and are ready to buy shares.
Then they see this:
"CSD Account Pending"
And they're told it may take 3–4 weeks to complete. In reality, some investors wait 2, 3, or even 4 months.
By then, many have lost interest.
Some withdraw their money.
Some abandon the process entirely.
Some never return to the market.
This is a challenge we need to address.
Every delayed CSD account is a potential investor who cannot participate in the market.
Every investor who gives up represents lost liquidity for the Ghana Stock Exchange.
If we want more retail participation, greater liquidity, and a stronger capital market, the onboarding process must become faster and more efficient.
The GSE, CSD, brokers, and all market stakeholders have done a great job promoting investing.
The next step is making it easier and faster for people to get started.
The easier it is to invest, the more investors we will attract.
And the more investors we attract, the stronger our market becomes.
