What does subject matter integration look like in elementary instruction? Including science (and art/ss) is key! https://t.co/7N9ZyySfu7 @Jesbooth @GaDOE_SS
After probably the most overwhelming week ever, I took it upon myself to cheer me up so I stayed behind after school and learnt ‘the shuffle.’
Not gonna lie, this did wonders for my wellbeing. 😁
Happy Friday #edutwitter!
Great bit on @RealJoshReddick by @JuliaMorales and then @blummer27 nailed it. “Get the towel to extend to the bench, which allows you to stay thru the zone longer.” Otherwise you’re in and out of the zone too quick. Young ball players watch and pay attention! Improve your swing
Dear teachers,
For the next 10 months, I am sending you the best thing that ever happened to me. Care for them, push them, challenge them, inspire them, and help them navigate this journey of life.
Sincerely,
A loving parent
When teachers read challenging novels aloud, poor readers made 16 mos. of progress on a standardized reading test in 12 wks. Comprehension instruction made no difference. Just one study, but maybe it's an approach worth trying. https://t.co/izXv9kivLh

"The purpose of efficient procedures and routines is not just to save time. They make sure students feel safe making mistakes, ensure students feel celebrated & celebrate their peers, & maximize the amount & depth of cognitive work students do."

A3: My school has a large ELL population and every morning we have carts full of bilingual books in the hallways for parents to choose to help their children read at home. #OpenUpELA
There is a huge distinction between recognizing gaps in proficiency and setting low expectations. Understanding and addressing foundational misunderstandings allows for growth. Setting low expectations limits growth. Far too often these two concepts are conflated.
I want to highlight the need for quality science in elementary grades. Science should be at the table. Children have just as much right to science instruction as they do other subjects. We need to make this our “new normal “ Let’s start our new normal right now!
Some admin may think constant praise, compliments, and appreciation is not necessary for adults, But remember its not just that you are praising your staff, but you're also saying I am present, I'm paying attention, & I am in this with you. can this really be said too much?
