🚨 BREAKING: Beagles Rescued From Laboratory — But the Fight Isn’t Over Yet
In a dramatic and emotional turn of events today, 22 beagles have been rescued from a life inside the laboratory walls of Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin — a facility long criticised for breeding dogs specifically for animal experimentation.
For these gentle, trusting dogs, the rescue marks the first moment of freedom they have likely ever known. Beagles are the most commonly used dog breed in laboratory testing because of their small size, docile temperament, and willingness to trust humans — traits that tragically make them easy victims of the research industry.
But the story has taken a troubling twist. According to rescuers on the ground, around eight of the rescued dogs have now been seized by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Those dogs could potentially be returned to Ridglan Farms — a facility where investigators and campaigners say animals have been subjected to documented cruelty and severe neglect.
This development has sparked outrage among animal advocates across the United States, who say sending the dogs back would place them right back into the system they were just freed from.
Ridglan Farms has long been at the centre of controversy. The Wisconsin facility breeds hundreds of dogs for experimentation, and activists spent over a year attempting to have the company prosecuted for alleged felony animal cruelty.
Despite the evidence presented, campaigners say Ridglan ultimately negotiated its way out of the felony charges, leaving many advocates feeling the justice system had failed the animals trapped inside the facility.
Today’s rescue operation was carried out by a coalition of activists led by @waynehhsiung and @realgaryyourofsky determined to bring at least some of the dogs to safety.
But unless the remaining seized dogs are released back to rescuers, that hope could be short-lived.
Animal advocates are now urging the public to take immediate action.
📞 Call the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and ask them to release the seized dogs to rescuers rather than returning them to the laboratory:

That's it! I am SO over Island Park Drive. No wonder it is called an "island." Always impossible to navigate in the spring. Last pic is the ambulance driving hubs away with a badly broken ankle. Isn't there a way to fix this? @_MarkSutcliffe@ottawacity@LeiperOttawa

@AirCanada I paid a lot of $ to fly business class and wait in your airport lounge. Yet you don't offer a vegan meal on the flight nor do you have vegan options in the lounge. (The chickpea salad you offer does not need feta). All this $ and I had to go spend $30 in the airport.
It's great to see the Supreme Court abandon their old robes that used fur from ermines killed at a fur farm. More proof that fur is dead—as a matter of both fashion & modernity!
Animals are in crisis at Marineland—another whale and a seal have died. The deaths caught Doug Ford’s attention - but when will we get provincial action? https://t.co/WZGu8zs2Pp
Animal testing isn't just cruel. It could be setting us back. With @fordnation's commitment to end cat & dog testing, we can also take a step toward better science! https://t.co/3xOHNtIDXL via @torontostar
Doug Ford praises anonymous whistleblower who exposed medical testing on beagles and promises laws: “you aren’t going to use pets, dogs or cats to experiment on any longer. Simple as that, we just don’t do that. It’s unacceptable." https://t.co/Iry0Qf2dsf via @torontostar
Looking at you, @sobeys! Be a #HeroforHens
Canada's big grocers promised they'd switch to cage-free eggs by 2025. They haven't even come close https://t.co/rhdZ6GGc3l via @torontostar
⚠️ While the hospital is shutting down the dog testing program, pigs & rodents continue to suffer in other cruel research. Join us in calling for an immediate end to all animal experiments at @stjosephslondon, & help us ensure all survivors are rehomed ⬇️

LIVE: Advocates in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, & Calgary are protesting outside @sobeys, urging the grocer to keep its promise & STOP selling eggs from caged hens! 🐔
Shoppers are being challenged to spend 5 min in a cage—just a fraction of what hens endure for their entire lives.
