Microbially Induced Concrete Corrosion (MICC) with Dr. Keri Lestage, PhD, PMP.

[Kismet Technologies @KismetTech]

Concrete corrosion doesn’t have to be inevitable.

Microbially Induced Corrosion of Concrete (MICC) is a costly, often overlooked challenge threatening wastewater and other critical concrete infrastructure exposed to harsh environments.

At Kismet Technologies, our team has been exploring new ways to disrupt the sulfur-oxidizing bacteria like Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans that drive MICC—and our latest white paper shares promising findings.

Through advanced lab testing, we evaluated how our sealant formulation can help reduce microbial impact and protect concrete structures in aggressive conditions.

If you’re working in infrastructure, materials science, or wastewater systems, this research offers an exciting glimpse into what’s next in surface protection.

Hospitals face a constant battle against pathogens, which puts patients and healthcare workers at risk daily. At Kismet Technologies, we've harnessed cutting-edge antimicrobial technology to revolutionize disinfection practices.

Our recent whitepaper details a comprehensive study conducted in an 800-bed Level 1 trauma hospital, exploring how our NanoRAD coating and film sprays significantly reduced bioburden across high-touch surfaces like privacy curtains, chairs, door handles, and more.

Key findings:
- Up to 90% reduction in bacterial loads on surfaces.
- Persistent antimicrobial protection lasting weeks to months.
- Notable efficacy even on difficult-to-disinfect surfaces.

This research aligns with key takeaways from the recent Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) panel, "Invisible Shield: How Next-Gen Antimicrobial Technologies are Advancing Infection Control & Operational Efficiency." A big thank you to Gregory Gicewicz for organizing the panel and to our Director of Strategic Partnerships, Keri Lestage, PhD, PMP, for spotlighting Kismet Technologies among the innovative solutions offering residual protection for both hard and soft surfaces. It's always inspiring to be part of conversations led by healthcare change makers like Michael P., who exemplify excellence and a forward-thinking approach to hospital safety.
