It was too depressing to write this last night, after we got off air, so I went to bed. But, it needs to be said by more Democrats: this was not an impeachable offense, and Trump did not need congressional approval for one precision attack under the circumstances, just as Obama did not when striking Bin Laden. Why can’t our Party just say it’s great we achieved the objective and destroyed Iran’s nuclear sites, god bless the soldiers who carried this out and made it home safely, god bless our country, military, allies, and we look forward to a full intel briefing. 🇺🇸. If one must then assert Congressional authority at the moment, add that any escalation will require congressional approval. And if you must, express concern for where this may go and what might come next.
But, for so many in my Party to knee jerk with unhinged calls for impeachment - and sadly omit in their statement support for Iran not having nuclear weapons, which has been a principle of our Party for 40 years -is truly TDS.
Pssssssst
If you’re saying Trump bad because now Iran will activate sleeper cells…
Having sleeper cells in the U.S. is already justification for a war against Iran.
Seeing a lot of takes saying Trump is simply defending Israel, or has been manipulated by Netanyahu.
There is clear America-first rationale for the bombing, even if you ignore Israel entirely.
And it’s important to understand it, even if you disagree:
1. Iran had enriched Uranium to 60%.
3-5% is needed for civilian energy. 90% for nukes.
2. Between February and May, they increased their 60%-enriched stockpile by 50%, enough to make several nuclear bombs.
3. Going from 60-90% takes weeks.
Once Iran hits weapons-grade, it becomes far more difficult to detect what they do with it.
They could assemble a bomb in secret, underground, in Fordow. That’s likely why Trump targeted that site.
4. A nuclear Iran triggers a chain reaction.
Saudi Arabia has already said: “If they get one, we have to get one.”
Even many Muslim countries consider Iran a bad actor - not just Israel.
5. A nuke gives Iran cover for proxy warfare.
With nuclear deterrence, Iran could act more aggressively through Hezbollah, Hamas, and other actors.
They wouldn’t need to use the bomb. Just possessing it changes the game.
6. Iran’s regime, the Islamic Republic, is hostile to America.
They chant “Death to America” - earnestly and regularly.
To be fair: America’s history of missteps in the region has contributed to that hostility.
But acknowledging mistakes in history doesn’t mean ignoring the present threat.
The fact remains, Iran using nukes against us, directly or indirectly, was a real threat.
How much was Trump influenced by Netanyahu? We cannot know.
But he had to make a choice.
So he chose to specifically target Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
And there’s strong rationale for the choice he made.
If you don’t like what he did, ask yourself:
What was the alternative given the situation right before the strike?
This wasn’t a simple choice.
It was a calculated risk in a probabilistic world.
Iran was playing nuclear poker - uncertainty was their weapon.
Trump removed that uncertainty.
Peace is not made exclusively through diplomacy.
Sometimes, it requires force.
Such is the imperfect and sadly, violent world of man.
I don’t know if Trump exhausted every peaceful option first.
I hope he did.
But he made a choice.
Hopefully this helped you understand, even if you disagree.
Now we wait to see the consequence.
Trump rolled the iron dice of war.
Let’s pray the result is peace.
Even if that peace was won through force.
@rfferffe@pax_omnibus@RJ_maps Where does it show he was registered as republican? Is this new info? I’m sure you aren’t lying because lying would just make you seem unhinged.
The sixth round of U.S.-Iranian nuclear talks were scheduled to start June 15.
Now Iran’s government has withdrawn themselves from the talks.
Peace is now off the table, or at best delayed.
Can someone explain to me why Israel’s strike on Iran couldn’t have waited 2 days?
The Left calls the man who won the national popular vote a King but covered up for 4 years of a mental incompetent while his advisors illegally ran the govt
Lie #1 Trump is a dictator who held a military parade on his birthday. Fact Check: The US Army was in fact founded June 14th 1775. Coincidentally trump was born the same day.
Lie #2 This is funded with tax payer dollars. Fact Check: This vast majority of this was funded by America250 Foundation with sponsorships from major corporations including Oracle, Lockheed Martin, Palantir, and reportedly Amazon and Coinbase to name a few
Lie #3 Only Authoritarian regimes have military parades. Fact Check: Numerous democracies have military parades like... France, UK, Canada, Italy, Israel, Australia, South Korea... among numerous others
