Seals will be left without help. 🦭

Just writing this sentence makes my heart ache.

Over 50 years ago, the seal rescue facility started treating sick, injured and orphaned seals in Pieterburen. Over the decades this rehabilitation effort has stabilized the seal population in the wadden sea, which was reduced to a very low amount in the beginning of the 70s.

Over the past decades many hardships have been overcome. Many seals fought for their life and survived because of the dedicated care of Zeehondencentrum.

In April 2025 the seal rehabilitation was moved to a new facility in Lauwersoog, after nearly 50 years of operation in the old facility in Pieterburen.

Now the WEC and Zeehondencentrum are facing bankruptcy and closing of seal rehabilitation within the next two weeks. If no miracle happens, the seals will be left without help. Seals won’t get a chance to fight for their survival.

Every bit of donation now can help to keep the seal rehabilitation alive. Please donate if you can and want to. Please share it wherever you can. Maybe YOU can reach someone who can be our miracle.
