22 September 1932 | Czech Jewish girl, Vera Taglicht was born. As a refugee she went to Norway.
She was deported to #Auschwitz with his brother Tibor in March 1943. Tibor was selected as able to work. He asked to stay with his sister. They were both murdered in a gas chamber.
16 August 1918 | A Norwegian Jewish woman, Edith Reichwald, was born in Haugesund. A ballet dancer.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 3 March 1943 & was murdered in a gas chamber with her son Harry & mother-in-law Jeanette. Her husband Hans (deported in Nov 1942) perished in the camp.
Today in 1946 WWII veteran Maceo Snipes was shot in his back by the KKK the day after he became the first Black person to cast a vote in Taylor County, Georgia.
After he was shot, Mr. Snipes walked three miles to the hospital with his mother. For six hours doctors left him waiting and bleeding. By the time he was seen, he needed a blood transfusion. The doctors said the hospital had no “black blood.” Snipes died two days later.

3 March 1943 | A transport from Berlin with 1,758 German & 158 Norwegian Jews arrived at #Auschwitz. After the selection, 585 men & 309 women were registered in the camp.
The remaining 1,022 people were murdered in gas chambers.
Eva & Harry Shotland were among them.

My class and I watched The Territory at our city's international film festival. The teenagers called it an eye-opener. I recommend it to everyone - very moving and educational.

Quisling’s attempt to remake the curricula to follow nazi ideology failed. We should all be so strong.

13 December 1879 | A Jewish man, Samuel Jacob Pintzow, was born in Seda (today Lithuania). In 1900 he moved to Norway.
On 25 February 1943 he was deported to #Auschwitz. On 3 March 1943 he was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
@VABVOX I read that in Norwegian news too. I do wonder about the veracity - as someone pointed out, he has a tight grip on everything, including the media. If he is sick, I hope he becomes unable to do his job and is ousted. I have enough compassion to avoid wishing he would die, but…
@thehistoryguy Because they don't have Roman archaeology? Because it certainly can't be because you think they don't have ancient, millennia old archaeology and history. Even this Norwegian knows Australia has 60,000 years of human habitation.
