There are more than 150 medical schools in the U.S., but to this day, two HBCUs, Howard & Meharry medical schools, still produce the MOST Black physicians. It’s past time for PWIs to step up & commit to educating a diverse workforce. HBCUs can’t continue to do the heavy lifting.

Black students are still underrepresented at a lot these state schools that accept pretty much everyone who applies. Additionally where do most of the people in power come from?? The Ivy League…

False. UT Austin is a competitive, publicly funded institution who still used affirmative action in their admissions process (see: Fisher v. The University of Texas in 2013 and 2016).

Just a general note that most colleges and universities don’t use affirmative action because most schools accept pretty much everyone who applies. Selective universities are a small slice of what “college” is in America.

•I am now in my 4th year of my PhD program (whatever that means)

•My research centers around the socialization of Black women in medical school.

•No, I am not yet a Ph.D. candidate

•I’m still doing the best I can 🥴
