“Why are we learning this?”
This is not only a reasonable but also a responsible question for students to ask.
Though sometimes perceived as an affront, kids aren’t being disrespectful towards us; they are asking us to be respectful towards them.
“Why” matters. Much. #askwhy
I'm glad to see people worried about students' mental health due to remote learning. Hoping thess same people share concern for students' mental health during active shooter drills, racist curriculum, or even standardized testing.
You teach it, they tweet it!
T @MsSifuentes gets creative with formative assessments: As Ss describe each lesson in a tweet, she finds out what they learned and how she might revise!
Might you try one of these exit tickets with your Ss? #WholeStudent#MTBoS#EdChat
"Teacher, if you don't "see" my race, you don't "see" me...and if you don't "see" me, you can't effectively teach me...because you have made me invisible in your eyes by denying me of my identity."
At the end of each day day, ask yourself “Who did I celebrate today?” If we can’t answer that, let’s reflect on why. We’re in the business of changing lives & shaping futures. In order to do that, we must recognize and celebrate excellence when we see it! 💛 #KidsDeserveIt
It is important for us as future educators to break the cycle of yelling at our students. We need to remember to Smile, Take a deep breath & Relax so that we can handle any situation! Be a STAR ⭐️ #ConsciousDisipline#UABEEC301SP20
Teaching students to self-regulate at a young age is very underrated! If we took time to teach it to them while they are young, it can change their lives in their future. #UABEEC301SP20
Had a BLAST with March For Success @ Tuggle Elementary! Teaching EDP & creating musical instruments out of recycled materials put a huge smile on the students faces & warmed my heart!!! What a confirmation that I am exactly where I need to be 💜📚✏️🔤 #UABEEC301SP20
The Latin definition of Education is to BRING OUT. As a future teacher I don’t want to support defining students with a grade. My goal is to teach! Giving my future students a chance to grow, learn, and succeed!! @PrinceEa#UABEEC301SP20
@EmmieUAB_Teach@PrinceEa That was one of my favorites too, and when he said the most common question asked is "Will this be on the test?" The focus should be on learning not passing tests! #UABEEC301SP20
