KTN has exposed what could become one of the biggest state enabled land grabbing scandals Kenya has ever seen.
About 9,000 acres of land are at the center of it.
And the names being mentioned include Felix Koskei, the Ruto administration, and a private company linked to controversial businessman Sukhwinder.
Kenyans deserve to understand what is being alleged here.
Miwani Sugar collapsed years ago. Reports say the government later used public funds, more than KSh 300 million, to buy the land connected to the company.
Then another twist came.
A private company linked to Sukhwinder emerged claiming it had already bought the same land back in 2010 for KSh 700 million. The matter went to court.
But according to reports and court findings, serious questions were raised about the documents used in that claim. Some were reportedly found to be fake or forged. Government officials also allegedly stated that no payment for the land had ever been made.
Cases were filed against several people.
Many Kenyans believed that should have ended the matter.
But it did not.
Reports now claim that after Felix Koskei entered government around 2017, the cases slowly began disappearing. By 2019, they had reportedly been dropped.
Then another strange development appeared.
A man said to be from India named “Nagenda Saxena” suddenly emerged, claiming Miwani Sugar owed him more than 400,000 US dollars.
But according to reports, DCI investigations later found something shocking.
“Nagenda Saxena” allegedly did not even exist.
Investigators reportedly questioned whether the person was real at all.
Yet despite this, Sukhwinder’s company allegedly claimed it had paid the KSh 700 million through this same individual in India.
Now the matter has taken another controversial turn.
Reports claim Felix Koskei recently raised the issue in Cabinet, and Cabinet allegedly resolved to hand over the 9,000 acres to Sukhwinder’s company through what was described as an out of court settlement under the government’s privatization agenda.
All this is reportedly happening while court disputes are still active and while investigators are still raising serious concerns about the legitimacy of the claim.
Think about that carefully.
Courts are still handling the dispute.
Investigations are still raising red flags.
DCI is reportedly questioning key parts of the story.
But despite all that, the message allegedly coming from the top appears to be:
Give them the land anyway.
Nine thousand acres.
Just like that.
Many Kenyans are now asking whether this is simply privatization or outright land grabbing happening in broad daylight.
And whenever this government pushes something with unusual force, perhaps the most important question to ask is:
Who stands to benefit?
