I KNOW it's fatphobic bullshit but... urgh. URGH. I'm suddenly understanding how people go insane with eating disorders, it's blatantly unfair that a small bite of something tasty would be like... equal to a whole meal and a half.
When the chocolate bar you got as a morning snack/breakfast is 550kcal 😭 (I didn't eat it, just contemplating my life decisions. God why is everything nice in life so bad for you?)
it’s not that we’re a lot more miserable than we realize, we’re accurately reading our state, it’s that we don’t realize how much we’re carrying, and how happy we’d be without that. without the trauma I think humans are naturally very light and happy creatures
@atomic_rpg No, it was a character I made just for this shitty adventure. Idk, it be that way. It sucks. Even when I don't care about the character I always end up getting attached.
@atomic_rpg I don't *want* to be a bitch about it because I don't want to ruin the remaining player's cool moment where they become an epic evil wizard. But I'm feeling so very bitchy about it.
@atomic_rpg I failed the save against a banshee wail 🤷🏻♀️ and so did 2 other characters, so now the one remaining guy gets a badass sequence where he gets to be NPC-ified in a dark deal with the enemy.
@amelapay This is the difference between anxiety as chemical process and anxiety as the mental illness comprised of maladaptive beliefs and coping strategies. Fixing one doesn't negate the second any more than plastic surgery cures a lifetime of thinking you're ugly.
@the_witch_md@moriah_bridges@mrs_alyse Yes! Sometimes I think it’s because if you have to focus on the cooking you push your hunger into the background and when you’re done it’s sorta suppressed still? Glad to know I’m not alone in any case!
@moriah_bridges@mrs_alyse I find that if I cook I actually eat less, possibly because the effort spoils my appetite? It’s not that the food is bad by any means, it’s just that having had to make it myself has me very “eh” towards it. So yeah, I buy it. If I had to cook my own snacks I’d be so skinny.
Anyone else keep getting jumpscared by the same picture of a random Asian dude that’s like… promoted in all of the comment sections today? I need to know if this is a general thing or if the algorithm has pegged me as the correct demographic for this mystery ad xD
@extradeadjcb Not automatically assuming someone can’t do a thing because they’re disabled doesn’t mean, “abandon them if they actually can’t”. Disability is complex, combinations of high and low functioning in different areas are common. Don’t assume someone can’t -just let them try.
@firstdayofsnow Yep, that was my first thought as well. People are blindly lashing out at things they think are “pretentious”. It’s just “cringe” all over again by another name. Societal norm has become so simplistic and pre-digested that any hint of complexity is perceived as deviancy.
@snacklesbian It’s not a good outlook, and it probably does have negative effects on people’s view of disability. But it’s also an almost necessary condition for functionality with ADHD. If you allow yourself leeway to not be functional, you won’t be. Give an inch, brain takes the whole mile.
@snacklesbian It’s kinda like that tho. Especially and perhaps specifically for adhd. The alternative to Doing The Most to keep upright *has* to be unthinkable. Death, failure, eternal shame. That’s shit and irrational, but if you allow an adhd brain an alternative to effort it picks that.
@butchanarchy If a group is letting its slower, weaker members take a beating from the police while the stronger members get out of dodge, something is just *wrong*.
@butchanarchy Honestly having disabled people at the front setting pace, at all times circled/shielded by physically stronger folk, should be standard. And yeah, if you’re able-bodied you should try to be in good condition… so you can be more helpful to others, not to run away better.
