slowly realising when u ppl talk about intersectionality u think it means certain social identities outrank others in this "ladder" of oppression instead of compounding to create an experience unique to that individual & therefore cannot be understood by isolating single factors
lesbian flag i color picked from a stock photo on a columbia medical center page about stomachaches. it is for when you are a lesbian and you have a stomachache
With all due respect, while confronting racism in queer spaces is very important, you are the one that severely misunderstand what intersectionnality, (like most american progressives tbh)
Intersectionality isn't powerscaling to find who's the most oppressed of the minorities
@LunaEllisUK@IridescentJade@ginandjuniper I think you’re wrong. Getting messaging incorrect is what jeopardizes the ability to stand with others in the long run. And I never defended people personally attacking vic, which I think got nasty. We all make mistakes, but she did deserve criticism over it.
@aoifur I never understood the pigphobia, why is it always pigs? A corrupt cop is a pig, a perverted man is a pig, a homeless person is a pig, an obese person is a piggy, yeah they're dirty and chonky, but cmon the hate is too much yall.
@LunaEllisUK@IridescentJade@ginandjuniper I mean, the way in which we talk about these issues is extremely important because if it’s done wrong it harms the point being made and drives further division. We can’t just accept bad messaging because it points towards a real issue.
Intersectionality is often just used to smuggle in standpoint theory and epistemic privilege into a discussion by radical liberals.
If your argument is too weak to stand up to scrutiny, then get a better argument, don't just rely on your identity as a shield.
@ShieraBlackstar@gorelliel@Qveen_Potato In what way have you shown that you understand intersectionality??? Do you really think this is how the academic terms was meant to be applied? Because I guarantee you it is not. Be smug all you want though.
@xiuniqt@Baddiee_Elliee@Qveen_Potato@X The issue is that almost nobody pro-sign seems to understand or care about what intersectionality actually is. We shouldn’t water down academic terms with clear uses and make them fuel for grievance politics. Poc’s experiences are important to talk about, but in a proper manner.
