I mean, he’s not wrong. Wrestling fans always seem to want everything to be extremely serious. Fans want every single rivalry to be a blood feud, with the biggest possible finish. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of whacky bullshit here and there. Wrestling is a variety show at the end of the day, you’re not going to like 100% of the show. The parts you like, someone else hates. The parts you hate, someone else loves. That’s what wrestling is about. There’s no harm whatsoever having stupid shit, and a celebrity or two around here and there

However, fans have every right to be annoyed when the stupid shit happens too much. And when celebrities involvement fills up half the show, and ending up being involved in the main event of WrestleMania. The amount of ads can make the show extremely difficult to sit through sometimes. When half the show is an ad break, and half of the stuff we actually get to see is comedy and celebrity involvements, I don’t think fans are wrong for being a bit pissed off about it

I’m from the UK. Shows for us usually start at 1AM. And for a while, the only part of the show that seems to have real planned out thought put into it is the main event stories. I don’t want to be staying up until 3AM for a 5-10, maybe 15 minute segment or match

It’s getting to a point that fans aren’t even taking it too seriously. We’re just too passionate and love the industry so much that it annoys us when the show isn’t at quality it should be. Wrestling is supposed to be an escape for fans

I hate seeing Johnny Gargano doing this shit. It was perfectly fine at the start, but it’s been wayyyy too long

I’m HOPING that having Sami use him as someone he can vent too, leads to Gargano finally sitting up and teaming with a guy who shares his same feeling. Either they run as a tag team for a bit, or they just have an on screen friendship with Sami in the main event and Gargano getting involved with the US Title

Gargano is way to good to have him literally lying around every single week

The IWC as an entirety is such a negative place, man. It’s rough just scrolling through sometimes. I always try to keep things positive, and give criticism in a manner that doesn’t just tear into things in a reactionary manner

Kinda seems like wrestling fans struggle to see further than next week. A guy that they like loses a match and they say he’s buried, without truly knowing what ‘buried’ means. I like to try being the guy that can add a little positivity to things. Make the IWC a little easier to scroll through, and let people actually be a fan of things that everyone criticizes you for since you don’t share the same opinion as them

Every bit of shaky booking and inconsistency can usually be pinned down to one or two things. People just assume it’s that WWE hates the talent. In this case, it’s feels like a hierarchy problem. Once they fix that, I feel like they the shows would feel balanced again, which would make it a MUCH easier watch

I know the heavy breathing through the promos gets clowned on a lot because he blows up quickly, but I honestly don’t mind them 😂

A lot of great wrestlers speak with the same tone throughout an entire promo and it never sounds believable. Jey’s stupid heavy breaths atleast make him have a little intensity and aggression on his tone. He ain’t perfect, but he ain’t as bad as most make him out to be

I wouldn’t say so. People tend to forget that Jey Uso DID get over very organically with The Bloodline during the original run. The company didn’t pen the name “Main Event Jey Uso”. It’s something a lot of fans called him during the early stages of that feud. When he became the Right Hand Man, he was loved. The work he did was great, and he earned the opportunities that he’s getting now. He even got the Yeet stuff over during that period when everyone loved him. He’s not TOO different now than what he was then

We just live in an era where people have very short attention spans. So when he had the singles run, people found themselves bored of him pretty quickly. Mocking the botches in the build up of the biggest moment of his career. People even said that he ruined any credibility that Gunther had during that match, which just wasn’t true. I mean, look at Gunther now. He’s one of the biggest stars in the company

My main issue with Jey is that it doesn’t feel like his character has progressed much since then. Running back the theme song in almost every match is great for a live audience. But it happens almost every week, it doesn’t get a reaction from anyone behind a TV screen besides “ah shit, here we go again.” He doesn’t have any extra layers to his character than he did back in the original Bloodline run, which was several years ago at this point. I don’t blame Jey for this either, that’s all on creative for not taking the time to actually assess the character within itself

The other issue is that he seems to get rattled by the negative feedback he receives. The stupid IG Stories where he’d call out fans. He’s been a babyface for a while now, but tries to bite back at everything online. That isn’t a babyface. It’s almost unprofessional. I just want him to avoid social media for a while and lock in. When he locks in, he’s great. The reaction he got during the original Bloodline run shows that, he HAS got talent

If he beats Oba, I don’t think it’s forced. He’s an established guy towards the top of the card that gets a good reaction the majority of the time from the live audience. Reigns was getting booed out the arena week in week out. I don’t think Jey is anywhere near as forced. However, if he beats Oba, it’s a pretty fucking poor creative decision. I do still believe there’s a story to be told between Reigns and Jey facing each other that’s different from the last time the faced. But Oba isn’t a feeder talent. He’s not someone that can just take a loss here and there. He’s someone that should be protected as much as possible. Oba is pretty new on the main roster, Gunther was not only an established guy, but someone who was established enough to be World Champion AND the longest reigning IC Champion at this point. Oba doesn’t have that lineage yet. So he can’t just eat a loss to Jey. Not a clean loss atleast, and even then, it’d be a shaky decision

Suppose it’s not a bad thing having a match with actual stakes where fans want to see a certain guy win and a certain guy lose. Makes you tune in, I suppose

Personally, it feels like identity

Back when TNA was really taking off, they felt like the alternative. WCW had been bought out, they had more exposure than the likes of Ring Of Honor, and the signings they made weren’t just elite talents, they were huge names. Watching TNA, you’d immediately know that this isn’t WWE, even if they had ex-WWE guys on the roster. The six sided ring, the X-Division, it had an identity, a soul.

When TNA went into decline, they always seemed to struggle to find that again. Even when they moved into the era’s with McIntyre, LA Knight, Penta, the AEW partnership, they always felt like a B-Show to the bigger promotions. Not that they were doing bad work, they just kinda lost the identity that they once had. Titles had lost a bit of value, leading to less people caring about the big matches being booked. The companies prestige wasn’t the same either. So when we move into a period of wrestling today where there’s so much out there; people naturally skip it to prevent themselves from burning out

Despite people saying that the TNA/WWE partnership is pretty poor, it’s probably the best thing for the promotion, to find short term success. Anyone that tries to deny that, needs to remember the fact that a working relationship like that, likely has a hand in helping them finding a TV Deal. It gives them promotion and marketing from the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet. Is it 100% perfect? Probably not. But it’s certainly helped them get on the right path once again

For me, I wanna see TNA invest in names within the business that haven’t had a lot of exposure. A guy like Ricky Sosa should be a main feature for them right now. Leon Slater should have had the future built around him. Find these younger talents around the world and give them a platform to make a name for themselves; making TNA a place that showcases new guys. If possible, get a few of the guys that WWE have less creative for. Johnny Gargano is a name that springs to mind, considering his recent storytelling. Maybe some of the guys at the PC who aren’t quite ready for NXT yet, could get a few years in front of a live crowd in TNA, without the label of being a WWE Guy making a TNA appearance

TNA needs to feel like its own show. They need to seperate themselves from the every other promotion in a way where they’re not just “another wrestling promotion”. All they need is a little identity again, and they’ll be back on the right path. At the end of the day, what they’re doing is wrong. They’re still a successful promotion. But in a world where every wrestling is putting on good pro wrestling, what can make them stand out? Thats identity. They’ve got all the tools to do it, their roster is solid for the position they’re in. Hopefully they get back to where they should be

Then again, I’m not a promoter. But that’s my take

All this means that matches should not be compared when reviewing Meltzer Ratings. Take someone like Kurt Angle who never got a five star match. Should he have one? Probably multiple. But Meltzer mustn’t have thought that his best matches were in contention for the best of that specific year. Meanwhile, if his best matches are spread out into years that were a little low in quality, he could have a huge list of them

Comparing Meltzer ratings has always been really stupid in my opinion. Especially when his metric has barriers. Cagamatch doesn’t make any sense either. How many times has a movie come out with a really bad Rotten Tomatoes rating, and then turned out to be solid in the eyes of the actual fans watching the movie

Wrestling is subjective, and taking everything Meltzer says for gospel is crazy work. HIS highest rated doesn’t make it the best match of all time. The best match of all time simply does not exist, purely because it’s subjective.

I don’t know understand how we got to a period in time where people have forgotten how to form their own opinion. Wrestling would be a lot more enjoyable if they did. AIR, you like a certain style of wrestling. Me, I might like a certain style of wrestling. Just because Meltzer agrees with one of us, doesn’t make it the superior style. Instead, there’s room to put each other into shit that we enjoy, and give each other exposure to some work we might not have seen before. That’s kinda how a community works

Personally, I’m not a fan of the feud. Just my personal preference and I don’t judge others for enjoying it

Trick and Sami have done some GREAT work with what they’ve been given. Both men have done some top quality work

But turning Sami heel here is too easy, and it doesn’t nothing for his character. Too easy in the sense that there’s no direction for him after he does turn. I’ve seen people say that he should take time away, including people within this post. JUST turning him heel doesn’t fix that perception of him

The idea of him fighting with his own morality can lead to some very interesting development. Invincible after he kills Angstrom Levy, Spider-Man when he gets the black suit. It’s something that COULD work for him. COULD. I could be completely wrong. But I do think there’s some magic to Sami being a babyface who struggles with his morality

That’s what makes him the most human on the roster. That’s what will win the people back in the redemption arc

The idea would be to have him in the exact role he’s currently playing. A heel who hasn’t turned heel. He doesn’t get forced back to being a babyface. It’s a story that gets told over many months, maybe even a year. A babyface doing bad things, but acknowledging that what he’s doing is wrong. Struggling with his morality

Similar to when Invincible kills Angstrom Levy. He is still a good person, but he’s mentality cracked. He’s more willing to bend his line of morality to get the job done, whilst struggling mentally with what he’s doing. It’s not to force him back. It’s to create a story that allows to find his own way back gradually and naturally. Avoiding the typical “Good Guy turns bad” trope that is done in 90% of wrestling turns. It gives Sami more depth as a character, which is something he is truly missing. If he turns heel, he’s just another bad guy. You take this approach, and he has an opportunity to build much more depth to his character
