🦊: i played a character who plays the piano. i've never learned how to play the piano, but every time i played, i felt at ease, so i was happy throughout the entire shoot.

when you first encountered the concept of 少年BEASTa title made up of the contrasting words 'boy' and 'beast,' what did you think?
🦊: i thought it was one of the sides that exists within me. everyone has many different sides and if the beast is also a part of me then i should know how to cherish it.

you're a group known for pulling off perfectly synchronized choreography. when you heard the title track <born dire>, did any particular feeling or image for the choreography immediately come to mind?
🦊: i thought, "this is going to be a performance that takes over the stage," and the choreography really did come out in a way that made me feel like i had become a beast.

you must have spent a lot of time thinking both individually and together to bring out the contrasting performance of '少年BEAST' is both delicate and rough.
🦊: harmony is the most important thing, so there was no choice but to practice and practice again to reach that point.

what would you say are the characteristics of your own voice? and if you had to pick a song from this album where those characteristics stand out well?
🦊: i studied a lot so that i could express <diamond hour> well with an r&b mood. i practiced so that i could sound as appealing as possible while going back and forth between my chest voice and falsetto.

i'm also curious about which song was the most difficult to record on this album.
🦊: when recording <talk me to>, it wasn't easy to push and pull the rhythm. still, the composer looked over all the details for me so i learned a lot.

track 7, <welcome home>, is the first song where all the members participated in writing the lyrics. what kind of story did each of you put into it?
🦊: similarly, i wanted to include the journey i went through until my debut. i expressed in the lyrics how unbelievable it felt that the dream i had wished for had actually come true.

it's also an album about 'the real me, just as i am.' is there an unexpected side of yourself that people might not know well?
🦊: people probably expect me to actually be incredibly strong… but i'm not that strong.

each of you spent quite a long time as trainees before debuting in january this year. when you were in a situation where you didn't know when you would debut, what kept you from giving up on your dream of becoming a singer?
🦊: when i thought about the people around me who believed in me and the fans who supported me, i couldn't give up.

i think fans feel happy imagining alpha drive one being happy. if you could share some of your happiest moments with your fans, what would they be?
🦊: seeing clear skies and pretty clouds always makes me happy. taking pictures of them and sharing them with fans is one of the joys of my everyday life.

i imagine you must have organized your movie preferences ahead of this interview with a film magazine. now is the time to talk about them.
🦊: let's start with the latest one, me! i really enjoyed watching <spiderman: brand new day>. i've always been a fan of spiderman. this film impressed me because it not only had amazing action but also portrayed the emotional storyline in such a lyrical and beautiful way.

Q. 각기 다른 시공간이 배경이라 촬영장의 기억도 저마다 다르겠다.
🦊 피아노를 치는 역할이었다. 피아노를 배운 적은 없지만 칠 때마다 마음이 편해져 촬영 내내 행복했다.

Q. 소년과 야수, 대립하는 단어로 만들어진 ‘少年BEAST’라는 콘셉트를 접했을 때 어떤 생각이 들었나.
🦊 내 안에 있는 모습 중 하나라고 생각했다. 누구에게나 여러 면이 있고, 비스트 역시 내 일부라면 소중히 여겨야 한다고 생각했다.

Q. 칼군무를 소화하는 그룹이지 않나. 타이틀곡 <BORN DIRE>를 듣고 퍼뜩 떠오른 안무 느낌이 있었는지 궁금하다.
🦊 그래서 무대를 장악하는 퍼포먼스가 나오겠다 싶었는데, 정말 비스트가 된 것 같은 안무가 나왔다.

Q. 섬세하면서도 거친 '少年BEAST'의 상반된 퍼포먼스를 살리기 위해 따로 또 같이 고민한 점이 많겠다.
🦊 조화가 제일 중요하니까, 거기에 다다르기 위해 연습하고 또 연습할 수밖에 없었다.

Q. 각자 자신이 생각하는 본인 목소리의 특징은? 이번 앨범에서 이 특징이 잘 드러난 곡도 꼽아준다면.
🦊 <Diamond Hour>를 R&B 무드로 잘 표현할 수 있게 많이 연구했다. 진성과 가성을 넘나들면서 최대한 매력적으로 들리도록 연습했다.

Q. 이번 앨범을 녹음하면서 가장 어려웠던 곡도 궁금하다.
🦊 <Talk to me> 를 녹음할 때 리듬을 밀고 당기는 게 쉽지 ㅇ낳더라. 그래도 작곡가님이 디테일하게 봐주셔서 배운 게 많다.

Q. 7번 트랙 <WELCOME home> 은 멤버 전원이 처음으로 작사에 참여한 곡이다. 각자 어떤 이야기를 담았나.
🦊 나도 비슷하게 데뷔하기까지의 여정을 담고 싶었다. 꿈이 이뤄져 믿기지 않는다는 마음을 가사로 표현했다.

Q. '있는 그대로의 나'에 관한 앨범이기도 하다. 사람들이 잘 모르는 자신의 의외의 모습이 있다면.
🦊 실제로 힘이 엄청 셀 거라고 예상하는데... 그정도는 아니다.

Q. 올해 1월에 데뷔하기까지 각자 짧지 않은 연습생 시절을 보냈다. 언제 데뷔할지 알 수 없는 상황에서 가수의 꿈을 포기하지 않게 해준 원동력은 무엇이었나.
🦊 나를 믿어주는 지인들. 나를 응원하는 팬들을 생각하면 포기할 수 없었다.

Q. 팬들은 ALPHA DRIVE ONE이 행복한 모습을 상상하며 행복을 느낄 것 같다. 팬들을 위해 여러분의 즐거운 순간을 나눠준다면.
🦊 맑은 하늘과 예쁜 구름을 보면 언제나 행복해진다. 항상 사진으로 남기고 팬들에게 공유하는 것이 일상 속 즐거움이다.

Q. 영화잡지와의 인터뷰를 앞두고 자신의 영화 취향을 정리해보지 않았을까 싶다. 이제 그걸 풀 시간이다.
🦊 최신작인 나부터! <스파이더맨: 브랜드 뉴 데이> 를 정말 재미있게 봤다. 원래 스파이더맨의 팬이다. 이번 작품은 멋진 액션뿐만 아니라 서정적인 감정선까지 잘 표현해서 감탄했다.
