The passage of a $10,000 workforce stabilization payment for New York City paraprofessionals recognizes the importance of investing in the dedicated public servants who keep our city running.

Speaker Menin and Council Member De La Rosa understood the needs of the paraprofessionals and acted to improve their quality of life. I applaud any effort to improve recruitment and retention for essential workers, but we cannot continue to ignore the dangerous staffing crisis of our FDNY Emergency Medical Services personnel.

That is why I have requested legislation to provide a $20,000 retention and recruitment workforce stabilization payment for all New York City FDNY EMTs and a $25,000 workforce stabilization payment for all New York City FDNY Paramedics.
