INTERVIEWER: “Do you, as a group, have confidence that you can work as a team and solve the problems that you need to out there?”

BRUNO: “Of course you can, but it’s the decision from the staff to not press man-to-man, and sometimes leave a little bit of space in behind and trying to get the ball in the first moment - to wait for them, to give them the ball.

“But sometimes when you give too much the ball to these teams, they get confident, you know. They have so many bodies behind the ball that make you run a lot, make people get frustrated.

“And then, obviously, when you recover the ball, the legs and the brain are much more difficult to make it work.”

INTERVIEWER: “On that, then, do you feel like tactically, it was wrong tonight? You made the decision not to press, and that’s what hurt you in the end?”

BRUNO: “That’s on the manager and on the staff to see it, it’s not on me.

“I just said that, sometimes, we have to be more brave under pressure, trying to take a risk of getting that press very high and making them uncomfortable - as they did to us. As you saw, the centre back is coming all the way to mark me in my own half, and I think sometimes, we had to do that as a team, and we were not really able to do it.

“And a team that wants to play through the middle and likes these small connections, if you give them too much time on the ball to think and rotate on the middle of the pitch, then they create a big space on the outside, that’s what they did, and the first goal comes from that.”
