@t_a_stephens@quetonmax The corded ware which nearly all european steppe ancestry derives from were predominantly r1a, but some of their lineages were r1b which through the descendant bell beaker culture became dominant in west europe. But these lineages of r1a and r1b are both corded ware derived
@spandrell4@BorisBartlog This was after the yamnaya had split off into the corded ware culture in europe. And all the earliest identified cases of this I1 lineage seem to originate in the baltics and were already heavily admixed with corded ware prior to the wider spread in Scandinavia.
