In an extraordinary display of public support, heads of state, heads of government, and foreign ministers from all over Europe and Canada are posting in support of Ukraine in response to the Oval Office meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vance.
Tapper: President-Elect Trump has been talking about making Canada the 51st state.
Trudeau: That's not going to happen. Canadians are incredibly proud of being Canadian. One of the ways we define ourselves most easily is, well, we're not American.

NEVER again can #women be told our fear of male violence is "irrational".
#GiselePelicot
"It's time that the macho, patriarchal society that trivialises rape changes,"
"It's time we changed the way we look at rape."
- Gisèle Pelicot
These words Gisèle ends her time on the stand with carry the voices of countless women who have endured lifetimes of a rape culture in a society that routinely subjugates women and erodes their strength. Yet, women in this fight cannot be the only ones to dismantle these abusive patriarchal structures that men built. Men must join too.
Whether you help build or perpetuate it, we are all collectively responsible to help tackle these structures. They exist in our homes, our social lives, working lives, the institutions charged with protecting us and delivering justice... there are opportunities everywhere to support women and tackle abusive men.
Ordinary men in society commit acts of violence against women, and ordinary men watch on. Ordinary men make sexist miosgynistic comments, and ordinary men think that's as far it goes.
It is not. If anything, this case should teach you that.
Behind closed doors, behind the frontages of many ordinary looking men in society there are abusers, perpetrators of violent emotional, coercive, financial and physical acts against women. It's time to stop pretending the prevalence of male violence is small and stop saying good men are not part of the problem. If you're not part of solution, you're watching on. And what good is there in that?
I challenge every man to think about Gisèle's words from this case, and that of many other women's stories, and recognise there is a need to act and to do something in your lives. Don't make the mistake in thinking you don't have power, you do, you just don't realise it.
I fucking love Canada.
This is progress, leadership and a major quality of life improvement for 10s of millions of us. The removal of stress to live confidently.
Credit to the federal government regardless of why. This is good for Canadians. Very good.
@FlavorFlav Swiftie since debut but I was paying a mortgage and having kids so concerts weren’t a priority! Now that my daughters are Swifties too, I wanted to take them but tickets in Canada are several months mortgage payments 😢
The court refused Gisele Pelicot's wish to let journalists see the videos.
They were too "indecent" and "unwatchable" for the media.
Instead Gisele stayed in court to watch the videos - alone with the 51 men on the tapes.
Hey @WestJet you were my airline of choice for the last 20 years but no more. 4 delayed flights, a total of 8 hours on the phone and hours in person just to attempt to get there and back on the wrong days never mind the added hotels, rental car and lost wages from work!
"Not all men" - but so many men helped Gisele Pelicot's husband:
The 73 men who came to her house and raped her.
The 3 men who left - and didn't call the police.
The thousands of men who saw the ads on the website - and didn't call the police.
