Great morning for catching Towhees and I got to put a transmitter on one for the first time which was cool #EasternTowhee

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@DaniRabaiotti I graduated last year summa cum laude, was offered a bird research job where the PHD student interviewing me said I had about the same level of experience as her… They offered to pay me less than minimum wage so now I work as a receptionist. 😵‍💫

Audubon Society's new report says some bird species will be extinct in R.I. by 2050. https://t.co/FSDEzSDtDg

After letting their #cats roam outdoors, pet owners in #CulverCity complained their cats were being preyed on by #coyotes. A remote camera study showed the problem may lie more with the cats than the canids. https://t.co/haWY6RTB4x

@Saskajanet I never take a cardinal for granted 🥰

Been busy in Ohio & Michigan researching these beauties #EasternWhipPoorWill. Working to better understand their habitat use and diet 🪰(💩). Caught & handled under sub-permit for research purpose only, w/ minimal stress & for a short time #OhioStateUniversity 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑

@GBmountainOkie Awesome!!

@poetrhetor Some people want to inject aerosols into the atmosphere, to cause more shade and cooler temperatures. It buys time but solves nothing.

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@liliklayman that’s so sad hahahha

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@birdwarehouse_ You can work with nocturnal birds- I arrive at sites and leave them ~6pm-4am if that sounds like fun to you!!!! #EasternWhipPoorWill :-)

I had no clue there was African safari park in what feels like the middle of nowhere Ohio until I went there and it was really lovely and was interesting to learn about the story of how that land came to be. @ The Wilds :)

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@evornithology Most of my professors didn’t really tell us anything, but I like knowing the average score for an exam when they give it. SD would be interesting to see but probably would have more con b/c some people would look for “themselves” along the error bar.

Another great trip to GG Island last weekend - got lots of debris cleared and Common Terns showed up closeby the next morning. No other way I wanted to spend my birthday :)

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

What a great day for some habitat restoration on Great Gull Island, About half of the Roseate Tern population in North America nests here and their grounds needed some serious tlc ❤️🪶🥚 So glad I could help

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@katagucci when?

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@birdsandbri also, most of the money you get from doordash is tips, and sometimes people decide you deserve nothing after getting then carrying their groceries 3 flights of stairs to them. 😐 I got an app called Para that lets u see their tip before accepting the order.

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@birdsandbri I was doordashing in November which was solid bc i had no time for an actual job. I would make decent money in a night but not without doing hours of it. I heard instacart is cool cause you do less orders, take longer and get more $ per order.

[Janelle Kmetz @KmetzJanelle]

@WoodcockWatchNJ Cool I will look out for it. Good luck!

This flicker entertained me for 30 minutes just chilling in a tree. Despite the horrible quality of this I was happy to get this live photo of it peacing out
