@OlgaK2013@JanJakub16@KyivPost I would think a state could take responsibility for the actions of the state itself, but nothing stops it from also taking responsibility for the actions of the nation, or for forces that represented, were created by or fought for the nation. I would not see that as fatal.
@JanJakub16@OlgaK2013@KyivPost I hear where you're coming from.
But try to appreciate this: the US has George Washington as a hero, even though he was a slaver.
But he's not at all a hero *because* he was a slaver. Can the US erase him because he was a slaver given his "other" role in their history?
@OlgaK2013@JanJakub16@KyivPost I hear you. I have Ukrainian family but I'm not Ukrainian and have limited familiarity with the meanings to Ukrainians. I am however, as a diplomat, struck by how obvious it was this would cause an issue with Poland and stunned this could not in some way be avoided.
@OlgaK2013@JanJakub16@KyivPost I get these arguments. I get Ukrainian meaning & that this was not intended to hurt Poland. Yes, Poland seems to overreact in a way that plays into Russia's hands. But still, why put your finger right into the extreme historical pain of a country helping you? It seems unwise.
@OlgaK2013@JanJakub16@KyivPost I want to hear because I don't understand and I would like to. Could you explain to me the Ukrainian reasoning and position on this?
