I quit Twitter for my stupid mental health, to stop doomscrolling early in the pandemic. I stayed quit because my stupid mental health got a little less stupid.

Working, can hear my parents outside with my kid at the swingset. They are teaching him about Newton’s laws of motion but also seem to accidentally have taught him to gleefully say “shut up.” Whoops. He also sounds disappointed that senior citizens don’t want to go on the swings.
Have wanted my preschooler to just TRY taking deep breaths to relax for... only like a year and several books and charts of coping strategies... “Baby Siri” taught him in one day with “the snowflake” and now he wants to do it extra for fun. Why didn’t I think of this sooner
"social distancing"
-boring
-assholes just ignore it
-lacks immediacy or bite
"staying out of melee range"
-conveys the appropriate sense of danger
-encourages tactical forethought
-teaches good skirmish tactics

Diversity is who is in the room.
Inclusion is who has influence in that room.
Anti-racism is a mindset, way of being, and goal for a group of people in a room.
These are not interchangeable terms.
@beeurd@pokebunnie Yep, I’m old enough that “GLBT” was more common in my experience growing up (although not as standardized in journalism as “LGBT” today). Names of organizations founded in the 80s-90s like GLSEN and the GLBT Historical Society still reflect that order of the letters.
damn it's almost like the idea of existential precarity being necessary to motivate work was a lie sold to us by capitalists with a vested interest in the exploitation of our labor! wild!
@Millerheighife It wasn’t the first time I’d seen a dead human if you count viewings/wakes, but I stayed with my husband as he died in the ICU (exactly 2 days and 2 months ago today, actually). Seeing death wasn’t the hard or scary part, but his continued nonexistence really sucks.
@NightSkyGames Embarrassingly, it’s “embarrass”. I forget the extra “r”. When that looks wrong I think it’s like committee which has three sets of double letters so I try to fit another “m”... Ok, definitely wrong. I usually can spell; what’s wrong with me, I’m so... the word I can’t spell.
@AgiaTheBun I don't want to come off as condescending but I'm speaking on a very real historical process of how gay liberationists push for lgbt rights and liberal politicians kneecap the movements. Leslie Feinberg really puts it well here:
Congrats, Voyager 2! For 43 years, you’ve been a pioneer in the exploration of our solar system. It hasn't been easy but you make it look smooth. Cheers to your continuing journey revealing some of the universe’s secrets as you travel interstellar space. https://t.co/Na6jIcnYIT
@LuxAlptraum I don’t like it, especially if they say “mommy”.
There isn’t a good alternative in som cases, like if a teacher over Zoom is addressing me and my kid, since kid doesn’t usually call me by first name so I’m used to “Mama can hold the paper down. KidName, use the paintbrush...”
