On this day, August 24th 1922, Howard Zinn (1922-2010) was born to a Jewish immigrant family in New York City. Zinn was a historian, activist, and author of A People's History of the United States, a book that reshaped how millions understood American history by centering the voices of workers, women, and the oppressed.

A WWII veteran turned peace activist, he stood with civil rights movements, opposed U.S. wars, and spoke out for justice worldwide.

Beyond U.S. history, Zinn spoke out boldly for Palestinian liberation. He condemned Israel's "brutal military occupation" and signed the 2002 Not in Our Name statement: "Israel does not speak for all Jews. We oppose the occupation and the repression of Palestinians." He insisted that criticizing Israeli policies is not antisemitic, but a moral duty and endorsed the BDS movement.

In a letter to the SJP Hampshire College chapter he wrote:

"I want to express my admiration and support for the actions of Hampshire College students in their successful campaign for divestment from financial ties with Israel. It is extremely important for Israel to know that its violence against Gaza and its long occupation of Palestinian lands is not acceptable to the people in the United States. I hope your campaign will set an example for students all over the country, and lead to justice in the Middle East, as the divestment campaign helped end Apartheid in South Africa!"

Our campaign was by far the strongest ever by an openly Marxist candidate for the U.S. Congress.

We've so far won a historic 16.9 percent of the vote in a five-way race, in Washington’s sprawling Ninth Congressional District, which spans suburban areas with a significant proportion of Republican voters in addition to large parts of the major urban areas of Seattle and Bellevue.

We ran on electrifying demands like free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, ending all military aid to Israel and a permanent arms embargo on Israel, and national rent control. All of these are extremely popular among the working class in this district and nationally.

We achieved this result despite the many obstacles we faced.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties maneuvered by running candidates specifically to block our campaign from getting into the November election, which would have resulted in a head-to-head battle between our campaign and genocidal Democrat Adam Smith.

We faced a corporate media blackout, and hostility and outright attacks from DSA leaders and many "progressive" podcasters.

Many labor leaders shamelessly endorsed Adam Smith, while others remained silent, effectively supporting Smith.

All of these obstacles were predictable. Our decade on the Seattle City Council showed what a threat we are to the political establishment and those who give them cover. We used our decade on the Seattle City Council to relentlessly build working-class movements, winning four elections and unparalleled victories such as the nation's highest minimum wage, which also led to substantive raises for tens of millions of workers across the United States, defeating Jeff Bezos to win the Amazon Tax, and repeatedly beating corporate landlords to win unprecedented renters' rights.

Despite not making it into the November election, we've provided a powerful example of what's possible by running an openly Marxist independent campaign based on class struggle rather than making peace with the political establishment or its legions of gatekeepers.

The DSA strategy of appeasing and, worse, rehabilitating the discredited Democratic leadership and their rotten party is a dead end. In this age of imperialist war, genocide, and climate catastrophe, we simply have no time to fuck around.

We urgently need militant movements of the working class and a new mass party that can defeat the billionaires and both their parties. And we need revolutionary socialist campaigns like mine that don't try to join the establishment and help administer the capitalist system, but instead fight to overthrow it.

I have spent ten years as a journalist investigating one product and one claim - Vaccines are safe and effective. That is what we're told. I've only ever asked one question: how did they determine they were safe? And as my investigation shows, they aren't.

I used to believe vaccine injury was rare. I now believe vaccines injure and kill more people than the diseases we vaccinate for.

Here's what medicine wants you to think about. Before vaccination, measles killed about 400 to 500 people a year in America, a death rate of roughly one per 500,000. "Don't you care about those 500?", they ask.

But studies have shown that a child who catches measles has a 10% reduction in future heart disease. A million people die every year from heart disease in America. Reduce that by 10 to 20% and you've just saved 100,000 people by letting them catch measles. They don't want to talk about those 100,000.

Measles in childhood for women produces a 50% reduction in cervical cancer, a 20% reduction in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and a 60% reduction in Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Our immune system works exactly like working out with weights. It gets stronger by being challenged. We need these diseases to prime it for future disease. And by vaccinating the way we do, we are making our species weaker and weaker. Our immune systems can't keep up. They are now attacking our own bodies.

This is the dumb trick the Dem Party has been using on their followers for years now.

When something they pretend to oppose "must pass" (like the NDAA), they ensure there are just enough Dem votes for it to pass, even if it's just by one vote.

Then they tell all other Dems: feel free to vote NO so our followers think we really oppose it, and we almost sunk it!

If these 6 hadn't voted YES, Jeffries would have easily had 6 other House Dems to vote YES.

You still have a chance to feature our independent socialist anti-genocide campaign on your program. My campaign is fighting to end all military aid to Israel and for a permanent arms embargo on Israel. I have a long track record of opposing the Israeli state and the brutal occupations of Palestinian lands, as well as winning historic victories for working people like the nation’s highest minimum wage.

Many of your viewers who support our campaign have asked for you to have me on your show. A lot of commenters on this episode are also asking.

While Smith comes off horribly in this interview, it is a fundamental disservice to the cause of defeating AIPAC and U.S. imperialism to not let people who are disgusted by Smith know that they have an actual alternative in this election, and a chance to drive this blood-drenched politician out of office.

You call this recent episode with Smith a “heated” debate. But while you did ask him some difficult questions, this poses no actual threat to him so long as you continue to ignore his socialist opponent, who has raised more than three times as much money (over $690,000) as any of his previous progressive challengers. Adam Smith has taken tens of thousands of dollars just in the recent weeks from Zionist lobby groups and from war profiteers. He just COSPONSORED the June bill for a trillion dollars for war and to fuse the U.S. and Israeli militaries. There's nothing ambiguous here, and you owe it to working people and the antiwar movement to give our socialist campaign a hearing.
