The capital of the 20th century Dervish State. Founded by a religious and Somali nationalist movement, it was one of the last remaining African powers during the Scramble for Africa and WWI.
The Dervish repulsed several military expeditions by Britain, Italy and Abyssinia. In 1920, however, Taleh was the 1st city in Africa to be hit with a coordinated aerial bombing campaign by the new Royal Air Force, causing the collapse of the Dervish.
