Dug into the actual research on trans women in sports (not just headlines). For strength/power sports specifically, the preponderance of longitudinal studies shows testosterone suppression only modestly reduces the muscle/strength advantage from male puberty — one study found ~23% grip strength advantage retained after 2 years. That's likely why World Athletics nearly quadrupled its suppression requirement (6mo → 24mo) rather than loosening it. Endurance/aerobic sports are a real exception — hemoglobin drops to female range within months. But for sports like wrestling, sprinting, throwing: the data leans toward "advantage retained," not "resolved."

Why "The Nordic Model" is a Pipe Dream for the U.S.

Socialism is a massive talking point right now, but the conversation is a total mess because nobody agrees on what the word actually means.
If we want to talk about whether "socialism" could ever work in the United States, we have to look at the three main types and the massive roadblocks stopping them:

1. Old-School Socialism (Soviet Style)

What it is: The government owns all businesses and property. Private companies do not exist.
U.S. Roadblock: Formally impossible. The U.S. Constitution strictly protects private property, and our entire economy is built on private business. Zero chance. [1, 2]

2. Resource Socialism (Venezuela Style)

What it is: The government takes over one massive, wealthy industry (like oil) and uses that cash to fund free healthcare and social programs.
U.S. Roadblock: Out of the question. The U.S. economy is too diverse to be funded by just one industry. Seizing private companies would cause immediate economic collapse.

3. Social Democracy (The Nordic Model)

What it is: This is what modern politicians actually mean when they praise Denmark or Sweden. It is NOT socialism. It is regular capitalism with very high taxes, strong unions, and a massive government safety net (free healthcare, college, etc.).

Even though this third model is capitalist-friendly, trying to copy and paste it into the U.S. faces nearly insurmountable roadblocks:

The Tax Shock: The Nordic model is not funded just by taxing billionaires. It is funded by heavy taxes on the middle class. Denmark has a 25% sales tax on almost everything you buy. Good luck convincing American voters to pass a 25% national sales tax.

The Union Deficit: Nordic countries don't even have a government minimum wage. Instead, 70% of workers are in unions that negotiate wages directly with bosses. In the U.S., union membership is under 10%. We simply don't have the setup to make their system work.

The Scale Problem: Denmark has 6 million people. The U.S. has over 340 million spread across 50 states with completely different politics, laws, and cultures. Managing a universal system at that scale is an administrative nightmare.

The Lobbying Wall: Massive private industries in the U.S.—like health insurance and pharmaceutical giants—represent trillions of dollars. They will spend billions to lobby against and kill any legislation that threatens their existence.

The Bottom Line:
While certain ideas like paid family leave or childcare subsidies might work at the state level, a total shift to a Nordic-style system isn't happening. The economic, political, and cultural roadblocks in the U.S. are just too deep to overcome.
