🚨PLEASE R/T TO HELP JERSEY🚨
Jersey, a 3 y/o orange tabby, was dumped by his family when his human went to college and no one else was willing to care for him. Afraid and confused, he’s hiding in his litter box, wondering where he is and why he’s there and not home…1/

a cat would never lose $50k to a scam artist. for one thing, they have no money. for another, if cats could talk, they'd love to say "no" to things. they'd just say "no" all day long. no one has ever loved anything as much as cats love refusing to do things you want them to do.
I've been wanting a new alarm clock, so I found and bought this one. Seriously. I remember it fondly, and I know it can survive the pending apocalypse. The GE alarm clock is eternal.
@JenniferMusial@Kyla_Lacey My mother <very proper lady from an old New England family> washed hers in the sink, so washing mine there when I was young was just an extension of that. She preferred baths to showers, so that's likely the reason. She also always had a clean sink [unlike me 😁].
@JenniferMusial@Kyla_Lacey Mine was. I continued to wash it in the sink as an adult until my hair grew long enough that it got difficult ~ plus shower is quicker for night owl me to minimize the time I need in the a.m. to get ready. White upper middle class background.
@pctg16@StckedLibrarian Me, too. One year in the 1970s, summer reading allowed an unlimited number of gift card wins for reading a certain number of books to a local bookstore. I won lots 😄
The next year, there was a limit of 5 per child. My family knows I was the reason for the limit.
Quick story in which my mom teaches me about loving people.
When my big sister got married, they pulled away from the family a lot. In hindsight, she was the oldest daughter who did too much for all of us, and her husband helped her put down boundaries with us, and it was new and painful.
The first few years of their marriage they didn’t come to a lot of family functions. But they were sometimes there and my BIL was super polite, but also a big introvert. About 4 years into it, on Christmas Eve, when all of us were just grazing food in my mom’s kitchen, and talking about life as we often did on holidays, I looked over and saw BIL was sitting in a recliner in the other room, reading a book.
Annoyed, I went over to my mom, to tattle. (I was also a married adult at this time.) “Mom, do you see he’s just in the other room, reading? It’s Christmas Eve for goodness sake.”
My mom gasped and quietly peeked into the other room. “It worked!” She said.
“What worked?” I asked.
“He’s just so shy around us, and I’ve been brainstorming ways to help him relax when he’s at our house. So I found out who his favorite author was, and bought the newest book just published. I set it right by the recliner, hoping he’d feel comfortable enough to just pick it up and read it. I got him to relax over here! It worked!”
I was humbled. Astounded. Her goal wasn’t to get him to get with the program. Her goal wasn’t to assimilate him to what the rest of our family was doing. Her goal was to help him feel loved when he was with us.
I will never ever forget this lesson she taught me.
My wish for you is that you will find a book series that grips you as much as your childhood favourites, that makes you want to stay up all night reading it as though you were a kid again, falling in love with the magic of stories for the first time.
