Mr. Hughes

US History Teacher in the IL. I enjoy Chicago history, antique markets, art, political memorabilia, Mexican food, the Blackhawks, the Cubs, and a good book.

Happy birthday #RBG Miss you ✊

Good Lord Mitch McConnell. I just can’t. Everything you’re saying right now is reason for you and your Republican colleagues to vote guilty.

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

Shame on the 43 senators who voted to acquit the man who sent a mob to kill or harm them and their colleagues and desecrated our Capitol. The lack of consequences is insane.

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

So many logical fallacies in this defense.

It’s #InaugurationDay and it has been kind of weird not seeing Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Carlson working the phones to bring us there. First inauguration without students there to see peaceful transfer of power (wouldn’t see it anyway)since Reagan 1981.

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

Interesting both sides of the impeachment proceedings are using Lincoln’s words. Perhaps if they looked toward the country he desperately attempted to save from secessionists they’d find they have more in common and remind themselves as to why they’re there in the first place.

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

@NinaTotenberg @NoahRFeldman Can an impeachment trial occur after a president’s term has expired? Purpose being to remove permanently the title and benefits of being “President” and to prevent another presidential run?

@Sultanka1968 Thank you for creating and sharing this!

How does the world see us today? Are we that shining example on a hill? These were questions that we considered today in class, using front pages from around the world as a small segment of reflection today.

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

Today was supposed to be Four Freedoms Day. It now is a day of shame and embarrassment for our country. Well said @CoryBooker

@FrankCogliano Laphroaig 10 here in preparation for the victory speech. Heading to Islay.

I’m breathing better today. My shoulders feel lighter. Things won’t be perfect bc Biden is President but gone is the constant negativity, lying, & name calling that prevented progress & degenerated the American brand. Today is a win for democracy & there’s work to do. Let’s go!

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

@AiyanaLoon Thank youuuuu! 🗳 🇺🇸 hope you are well!

[Mr. Hughes @KnowSomethingAP]

Okay it has been a while since I’ve been on Twitter, just saying if you’re one of my former students, go get your vote on. DROP YOUR BALLOT OFF at an early voting precinct if voting by mail - extra credit if you show me your “I Voted” sticker. 🙂 🗳 🇺🇸
