Simon Mabhunu Sabela (1931 - 1994) was a South African actor and director, widely recognized as the first Black South African film director. Born in Durban, he became a central figure in South African cinema, bringing authenticity to stories told through a Black lens during Apartheid South Africa. He made history by directing the first feature film by a Black South African, uDeliwe (1975). He went on to direct numerous other films, including Inkedama, iKati Elimnyama and The Boxer. Sabela appeared in over 34 films throughout his 31 year career. His most famous international roles include King Cetshwayo in Zulu Dawn (1979), roles in Zulu (1964) and Gold (1974), portraying Nelson Mandela in the German TV movie Der Rivonia - Prozess (1966). 🇨🇲 Cameroon: 92-Year-Old Paul Biya Allegedly Declared Winner of Presidential Election
Cameroon’s long-serving president, Paul Biya, aged 92, has officially won the country’s presidential election, according to figures released by the National Commission for the General Counting of Votes and transmitted to the Constitutional Council.
Biya secured 53.66% of the vote, defeating opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary by a margin of 18 percentage points.
With assistance from Cuba, Honduras is making significant strides in eradicating illiteracy.
Four municipalities in Honduras have been officially declared free of illiteracy, with reports indicating that over two thousand Hondurans have learned to read and write, thanks to the guidance of 123 Cuban specialists.
The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, has stated that in a few months, she will announce the complete defeat of illiteracy in the country, attributing this success to the Cuban program “Yo Si Puedo” (“Yes I Can”).
