What are the FATAL 5?
1 - Drink & Drug Driving
2 - Speeding
3 - Careless Driving
4 - Not Wearing a Seatbelt
5 - Using a Mobile Phone whilst Driving
Road users who commit one of the FATAL 5 offences are far more likely to be involved in a FATAL collision than those who do not
Fire Services attend Arson related & deliberate fires more than any other Incident type. Arson accounted for 50% of Fires attended in 2017/18 by Fire & Rescue Services
This is by far the largest, single cause of Fire

On Tuesday we attended Booths Park to give out road safety advice. Our focus this month is “Distraction” whilst at the wheel. Unfortunately, we continue to attend road traffic collisions as a result of drivers being distracted my devices. #RoadSafety

Using a mobile phone while driving can adversely affect driver performance in a number of different ways such as:
1. Maintaining:
- Lane Position
- Appropriate Speed
- Appropriate Following Distances
2. Judging Safe Gaps in Traffic
3. Awareness of other Traffic

Fire crews from Knutsford and Wilmslow took part in an all-terrain vehicle familiarisation session today. The vehicle is stationed at Macclesfield Fire Station and we learned about the capabilities for wildfires, access through rough terrain and carrying equipment 🚒🔥⛰️
Working Smoke Alarms save lives, but only if they are in the right place
The most common reason a Smoke Alarm failed to activate was because the Fire was outside it's range

Today, the crew at Knutsford attended our training centre in Winsford to practice internal and external compartment firefighting techniques. Attending courses like these are an important part of keeping us prepared for operational incidents 🚒🔥

Crews from Knutsford attended an RTC in the local area this morning. There has been a recent increase in road traffic collisions on Cheshire's roads and we want to remind our local communities of the importance using the roads safely.

Firefighters at Knutsford have had a busy few months completing technical rope rescue training ahead of the rope rescue unit being relocated to Knutsford from Lymm. This skill will allow us to deal with complex rope rescue incidents across Cheshire 🧗🚒 #RopeRescue#CheshireFire
Animal Rescue Teams from Knutsford & Lymm as well as a Crew from Tarporley released a Horse that had managed to get itself stuck after trying to jump a fence
Crews removed the fence from wooden posts allowing the Horse to walk away with its owner

@KnutsfordFS were out to support the Knutsford Young Farmers event which saw over 100 decorated tractors and vehicles pass the station Mobberley Road raising money for CE hospice.
